Thanks for the link.

I would have thought that Scott "alka" Hall or Tammy "sunny" Sytch would have been the next on the list of wrestling deaths.
I've got Jake "the Snake" Roberts on my list.
To: CounterCounterCulture
Yeah, Roberts is a good choice. Not only does he have "issues", but he's older than Hall and Sytch
To: ambrose
Holy shi*!!
I didn't know he was released from his contract.
Such a sad shame. I always enjoyed Crash.
RIP "Elroy"...

LOL... Watching the Hardcore matches weren't much on athleticism or talent, just a bunch of guys getting whacked with chairs, hit with garbage cans or stop signs, hit by cars... And Crash always ended up, somehow, grabbing the pin and dashing out of the arena with the belt.
Crash was the best Hardcore Champion after Mankind.

Recent passings include Stu Hart and Road Warrior Hawk. Now Crash Holly. When did Hawk pass away? And of course, there was Miss Elizabeth a few months ago as well.

I loved these guys. I saw them wrestle when I was in 7th or 8th grade. They were young, built, intense, and different. They set the mold for what the modern wrestler would be. If I can find the picture I took back then, I'll post it.

Did you see Jake in "Beyond the Mat"? Dude is MESSED UP. And that was several years ago.A couple of years ago, I saw a Pay-Per-View billed as the "Heros of Wrestling". It featured a number of wrestlers who hadn't been around in a while - Cowboy Bob Orton, King Kong Bundy, Captain Lou Albano, to name a few. Jake Roberts was also on the card. They did an interview with Roberts early in the program, and it was pretty obvious he was drunk. During his match, he was staggering all over the ring, and fell down a few times. His opponent (don't remember who) did his best to carry Roberts through the match, but it was a hopeless task. They then sent in Bundy and Yokozuna, who were supposed to wrestle each other in the final match, announcing that it was now a tag team match in an effort to salvage a very embarrassing situation. It was pretty sad to watch.

Yup, just watched "Beyond the Mat" within the past month for the first time. Jake is seriously ****ed up. That video also helped direct Mick Foley into an earlier retirement (will Terry Funk ever truly retire?) after Mick saw the reaction of his wife and children to one of his more sicker matches.

Bad news once again.
I think there is a tribute to Hawk coming on the next edition of "WWE Confidential".

The 24/7 gag, the scales to prove his heavyweight worthiness, the amazing double-hop across the ring to accomplish a move...Michael got over with me since he played a leprechaun in WCW. His creativity stood out in a field overrun by bigger horses with less talent.
TNA is heating up with the imminent arrival of Lex Lugar working before judicial actions commence. The new owners spokesperson, Dixie Carter, asks that everyone give the guy a fair chance. That he will be teamed with Jarrett against his old buddy Sting and young blood talent Styles just propelled TNA into competitive status with evil V.
Bout time they put together enough material to compete.

Yes, tonight at 11pm. Stu Hart's tribute was last week.

Salisbury wrestling school founder dies at age 32
By Cortney L. Hill, Salisbury Post
A wrestler on national circuits and the owner of a short-lived local wrestling school died Thursday in Florida. Known for his funny antics, Michael John Lockwood, 32, of [address deleted], was best known as "Crash Holly" in the World Wrestling Entertainment. He was staying at the house of wrestler Steven Richards at the time of his death, his wife Christeena "N'keigh" Lockwood, said Saturday.
Although the two had separated in July, she said they still remained on very good terms. They had no children together.
N'keigh Lockwood found out about his death while on her way to her cousin's house in Charlotte Thursday.
"Iwas devastated," she said. "I couldn't believe what I was hearing."
She would not say how Michael Lockwood died.
"I know there are lots of things on the Internet about his death, but they're not true," she said. "And I don't want to say how he died because I'm afraid people will look at him negatively."
Instead, she wanted people to remember his sense of humor.
"He was the biggest goof ball," she said. "He was so funny walking up and down the ropes, doing things to make you laugh, and telling corny jokes."
To those who knew him, the way he was on television was his real personality, she said.
To others he didn't know well, he acted very quiet, she said.
In 2002, Michael Lockwood opened Crash Holly's School of Professional Wrestling in the old Duke Power building at 1325 N. Main St.
It was a school where wannabe wrestlers could come and learn about the sport from a pro.
N'keigh Lockwood said the school was in Salisbury for three and a half months, then operated in Lexington for six months.
Lockwood wrestled with WWE for four years, then signed with Total Nonstop Action-National Wrestling Alliance, or NWA-TNA, in July according to N'keigh.
"And he was supposed to fly to Japan in January to wrestle," she said.
Now that Lockwood is dead, N'keigh wants to fulfill one final wish.
"To start a savings fund for his 7-year-old daughter for college," she said. "He would want her to continue her education."
His daughter is with her mother in California.
The funeral for Lockwood will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove. Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday also at the funeral home.
See the full obituary on page 2C (below).
Michael J. Lockwood

He was a professional wrestler for National Wrestling Alliance and Total Nonstop Action and was formerly of World Wrestling Entertainment.
He formerly owned and operated Crash Holly's School of Professional Wrestling in Salisbury.
He is survived by wife Christeena Wheeler Lockwood; daughter Patricia E. Lockwood, of Pacifica, Calif.; and brother Mario John Lockwood of California.

I seen Jake Roberts on a chat show in the uk called "Trisha" around summer 03. He was lookin pretty good. Maybe he's finally cleaned up.
The cause of Mike "Crash Holly" Lockwood's death has been ruled as suicide. Toxicology tests have determined that he died from an overdose of painkillers. Friends say he was depressed the week of his death due to the fact that his wife served him divorce papers. The couple had been seperated for months.
