If caught without potassium iodide you can cover one arm in betadine.
Is it potassium iodide or iodine and where do you get it? With the betadine, do you just cover one arm - shoulder to wrist? Keep reapplying?

No reapplication is necessary but you have to apply it within a few hours I think...you might have half a day or so...the study also used the upper front torso if I recall it correctly but an arm is easier to cover. This is only good for a specific radiologic threat and only protects your thyroid and I wouldn't automatically do it until I heard it was time to take such action. But I'd rather coat my kids arms (less is better than more on this one...the skin will absorb the right amount) than have them injest a pill that isn't gaged to their specific weight. Plus if they are separated from you it will be obvious to medical staff that they have been treated and they hopefully won't be overdosed.
