Shortly after the crash, I think I did hear on Fox that the pilot tried to turn around and come back in. Haven't heard any more comments about that.

Maybe intel indicated a possibility of your theory and there was a 'shoot down' when the plane began to implement it.

Sharm El-Sheikh isn't very big and target lodging/meeting place of Blair and Mubarak would be easy to determine. Easier to call it a technical problem than try to explain.
