I intended it as sarcasm. No way could someone with such a handle as "Free Trapper" become friends with an avowed lunatic whose goal was the destruction of all that a true free trapper would hold dear. Not even a "company" trapper, like one of Ashley's or Sublette's boys, would ever associate with such a fool (although he, the fool, might very well feel right at home with one of Bug's Boys, more commonly known as a Blackfoot). Watch yer topknot, ol' hoss, and mayhaps one day we'll meet at "Rondy-Voo!"

Just before signup,I'd been selling to a new buyer that needed help getting a start,as he only had a couple greenhorns that worked with his gear,that he'd bought used without much knowledge,as he was a foreigner.Lots of my catch is live and goes overseas.
He began treating me as one of his boys because I "really" tried to give him a start but he wanted more and more all the time and was costing me too much time and money.
Finally,I was fed up and told him he just wasn't used to Americans that were independent folks and "listen,I'm not your trapper but a free trapper with plenty of other buyers".
At least I had a handle in mind when I signed on. :)
