Those of us who have had long periods of electricity loss know that without electricity our wells will pump no water. Point well made.

Lehman's is a store (with a mail order catalog) that specializes in non-electrical tools and whatnot. They sell the old fashioned hand pumps for wells, that I remember on the neighbor's farm when I was a small kid. Also, solar pumps are available. Currently my well pump runs on a generator. Rather than have the generator kick in to fill up a small pressure tank, I have a few larger water tanks, and run the generator to fill them all every few days.
