Machine translation means via a computer program or a website/service like Tarjim, which is what I use. It is far from perfect, but it can at least give you a clue as to whether you're just viewing a chocolate chip cookie recipe or something more interesting. I think StillProud2BeFree mentioned transliteration in an earlier post. Here is an example of transliteration:

Tee Ay Gee El Iy En Ee = TAGLINE

Spelling out the letters that make up the words in this manner will cause a machine translator to fail or to produce gibberish results. Only a fluent reader of the language in question would a good chance of realizing what is being said.

I am sure the Feds have some nifty software (it has been 28 months since 9-11, let's hope and pray) by now that can look for keywords and sift through the mountains of Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, etc. information that shows up on the web everyday.

Now, if AQ has switched to a secret cookie recipe code system then we're probably screwed. :)
