Another Halloween

Jack-o-lanterns on the porch
My children are trick or treating
Candy is being handed out
It is a typical Halloween evening
From behind I hear a clamor
I am startled at what I see
As the door slowly opens
I know what has come for me
A scream curdled in my throat
As the beast entered the room
Once again it has returned to me
To inflict more pain and gloom
It sole purpose is to torture
I know this beast all too well
It sucks the life out of you
It is a fate far worse than hell
There it stood in front of me
Pure evil, intent on causing strife
My heart racing, fists clenched
I said hello to my ex-wife
