The author is quite ignorant about GPS trackers, as the article said it would be illegal to put them into cars. Every car and pickup made since around 2023 has one. The surveillance folks need the vehicle VIN to figure out the signal given off for each vehicle, which makes it somewhat inconvenient.

I have a 2025 car. It has it's own phone number to download app updates and do things like remote start and find my car. The car also has bluetooth and wifi for CarPlay. I doubt if any people are going to turnoff those services.

Agreed, most won’t. Those who prefer privacy over convenience will.
