Leftist activists in the UK are mourning the apparent suicide of scholar plagiarist Jason Arday. Arday was a fabulist whose rich inner world would put Walter Mitty to shame. Called out for his violations of academic ethics, it quickly became apparent to anyone outside of Cambridge that his outlandish claims, both in academics and his personal life, could not possibly be true.

Jason Arday was hired after he calculatedly told a pack of lies
to a nine-member Board of Electors at the University of Cambridge.

The Board is chaired by what must be an ignoramus of titanic
proportions-——Baroness Sally Morgan (Master of Fitzwilliam College).

Cambridge professorships are appointed by an independent electoral board rather than a single individual.

The nine-member board that knelt in obeisance to Arday’s prodigious lies
hired him for the Professor of Sociology of Education position in 2022–2023.

Chaired by fruitcake Baroness Sally Morgan, it included academic know-nothings from institutions such as
<><>Cambridge,
<><>Newcastle University,
<><>UCL,
<><>Open University of Cyprus,
<><>and Wolfson College.

The stupid board did not make any direct statements to the public regarding Arday’s hiring.

Key details surrounding the communications following the controversy include:

<><>Official Silence from the Panel nine-member hiring board—which included prominent academics
<><>Chair Baroness Sally Morgan—has not publicly defended or commented on its decision amidst the intense global scrutiny wrt Arday’s academic qualifications and plagiarism.
<><>Cambridge University has refused to Comment
<><>When journalists pressed for answers wrt the hiring panel’s vetting process and what materials were reviewed, a Cambridge spokesman declined to answer.

Instead of individual responses from the hiring board, the university administration announced a formal Independent Investigation and Review to evaluate both the specifics of Dr. Arday’s appointment and Cambridge’s broader protocols for recruiting senior academics.

Arday’s Death Leaves Behind Hard Questions. An administrator, in a letter to the faculty on Tuesday, called the misconduct accusations “an aberration” and “troubling.”

UPSHOT: Cambridge to Review Hiring Processes After Arday Scandal. The university says its investigation into sociology professor Jason Arday will feed into a wider inquiry on recruitment.

Truly, Arday was no more a phony than any of the other so-called professors who infest the “humanities” and “arts” departments of Cambridge, or Harvard, or any other modern university.

He was unusual because he appears to have been ashamed unto death of being discovered. Other than that, he’s just like all the rest of that society of poseurs.

Exceptions possible for Hillsdale, Grove City, and perhaps a few others.

They’re all phony BS artists. Every one of them. They should all be working retail, or pushing papers in an office somewhere.

Jason Arday was famous as the “youngest Black
professor” in Cambridge’s more than 800-year history.

Arday had been dogged by controversy even though the gullible
Cambridge Board of Electors, who hired him, believed him.

Arday endured weeks of global scrutiny amid accusations of
<><>plagiarism,
<><>fake qualifications,
<><>and a fabricated life story filled with hard-to-believe details.

Arday claims made no sense whatsoever:
He claimed to have been “mute” until age 11 and illiterate until age 18,
disadvantages that did not deter him from getting a Ph.D., which he earned by age 30.

He outrageously claimed he had suffered from various
medical conditions throughout his life, including
<><>autism,
<><>epilepsy,
<><>locked-in syndrome,
<><>testicular cancer,
<><>and a brain tumor.

He was, by his own account, a world-class endurance athlete who had racked
up a variety of impressive feats, including running 600 miles in six days w/ a broken leg.

Then there were his invented academic accomplishments:
<><>Cambridge billed Arday as a “once-in-a-generation talent,”
<><>Arday’s “research” the sociology of education—was “the best in the world,” according to Hilary Cremin, head of Cambridge’s faculty of education.
<><>He claimed he got a book advance of 1.4 million in unspecified currency for his memoir, released this week by Simon & Schuster.

It was a meteoric rise......... until it wasn’t.

Arday was a clear example of ‘pseudologia fantastica,’ a mental disorder in which the subject concocts elaborate and enduring stories about himself, often of a grandiose and incredible nature. It differs from a delusional disorder in that the subject when confronted, will admit to conscious awareness of what he is doing. The condition is thus vulnerable to public exposure and intense shame, which could account for the felt need to take one’s life.

Another recent case of this disorder was Joe Biden, in whose case it may have morphed into senile confabulation—ie, he may have lost the ability to remember what tale was true and what was fabricated,

What was interesting about Biden, every now and then he would let slip something that ought never to be said outloud. Not sure if somewhere deep in the recesses of his brain there is not a little guilt in there. Just a smidge, though. He’s always been a jackass, at least if his colleagues in the Senate can be believed.

Interesting read at the link. Unfinished is the driving motivation of the anti-realist, and it can be found in one of Rush Limbaugh’s enduring insights— that the liberal prefers to be lied to, in support of the prescribed narrative, than to be told the inconvenient truth of reality.

The Left constructs a narrative of reality that confirms their own beliefs in themselves as virtuous and morally superior, and with which they obviously identify. An attack on the veracity of the prescribed narrative is an attack on themselves—which they will defend, violently if necessary, because it is existential to them.

The result is the annoying but toxic meme of “my truth” as opposed to empirical testing for “the truth.” And don’t you dare try to mess with “my truth.” It’s a short jump from “my truth’ to “the party’s truth.’ Who started this nonsense? Who said that if the party says 2+2=5, one must believe it?

Hard to say. Maybe a twinge of guilt. Maybe just a liar slipping up in an unguarded moment.

Mmmmm.....not guilt so much as his rank stupidity and lack of self control.
