Oh say can you see…no fireworks or football? Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s (D) past views on iconic aspects of American life might make some voters take note.
The progressive candidate, who narrowly won his Aug. 4 primary over Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) to face Republican Mike Rogers in November, was caught hating on ultra-American things like fireworks, the Second Amendment and even — gasp! — football in old YouTube videos.
The clips, some of which have since been deleted, were reported by CNN’s K-File.
In one now-deleted July 2024 video, El-Sayed, 41, says, “Fireworks suck!” and pleads with viewers to find another way to celebrate July 4th.
The clip offered multiple reasons “why fireworks suck,” including air quality, the chemicals in the explosive celebrations, the risks to kids and pets, and the potential for the noisy fireworks to impact veterans and others struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder.
Another video shows El-Sayed claiming the southern border, a repeated talking point for Republicans during President Joe Biden’s term, was not a top concern for Americans, while another now-removed clip had the candidate musing about replacing the Second Amendment.
El-Sayed considered replacing the nation’s infamous right to bear arms with a right to health care, according to CNN.
One video that remains online has El-Sayed even trashing football, wondering if the sport — known for widespread concerns about concussions — can be “safe” and “ethical,” CNN reported.
The campaign told CNN the older videos are not representative of El-Sayed’s views now, noting a 2025 social media post in which he encouraged followers to enjoy fireworks for the July 4 holiday and that he respects the Second Amendment.
“Abdul is the former captain of his high school football team, loves Michigan football on Saturdays, and celebrates the Fourth of July with fireworks like the next Michigander. Cherry-picked comments from old podcasts don’t reflect his beliefs today.” The former podcaster has gotten in hot water for previously claiming he never said the phrase “defund the police” when in fact, he did so during a 2020 radio interview.

My dentist was a child in Vietnam during the war. His school was bombed and he saw body parts flung everywhere. He hates fireworks, but he doesn’t want to prevent others from enjoying them. My father-in-law didn’t like them either; said they reminded him of the war in Germany, but he didn’t want to deprive others of their fun.

That sow Elyssa Slotkin did that with saturation ads on TV in Michigan. Didn’t even admit she was a Dem. Then won in US Senate and is one of the group of traitors with Mark Kelly who urges soldiers and sailors to refuse to obey commanders’ orders if they disagree with them.
You can bet a lot that Gavin, AOC, el-Sayed and the rest will NOT live up to the LIES they will now tell. Will probably make up Norman Rockwell family outing scenes and make speeches that show they could have drunk a glass bottle of pop sitting on the back of a parked pickup truck between Andy Griffith and Barney Fife.

Sayed seems to be taking pages out of Castro’s Revolution Manual. He is probably will funded by Soros and other deadbeats with big bucks.
When he was playing for the NFL, O. J. Simpson made a similar comment, likening the trading of players to slavery. After hearing that, an LA sports commentator noted how much NFL players were paid and remarked, "if this is slavery, I want a piece of the action."
