Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers brought attention to Abdul el Sayed’s disdain for the state’s beloved Mackinac Island with a trolling post.
The left-wing Senate hopeful’s hot-mic comment regarding his dislike of the island, captured in a 2020 documentary around his failed 2018 gubernatorial run, resurfaced online shortly after el Sayed won the Democratic nomination for Michigan’s Senate seat. Rogers quickly seized on the gaffe, signaling his love for Mackinac in a post on X.

Michigan Senate candidate Mike Rogers (R) pinning Hasan Piker’s garbage “America deserved 9/11” take on Abdul El-Sayed has the campaign and supporters crying foul. They desperately want you to think it’s just a dirty political trick.
It’s not. It’s the cost of doing business.
You don’t get to parade a radical streamer around the state to farm populist outrage for a primary win, and then play the victim when his toxic baggage follows you into the general election. You can’t deliberately launder extremism for cheap votes and then demand immunity from the blast radius. You chose the sandbox. You own the sand.
Never wanted any part of el-Sayed. One look at his qualifications were enough for me.
I believe that the person who developed Mackinac was an Infidel.
