Ok there it is. Those are the only items on the ballot: Capitalism or socialism. Make the democrats choose between the two. Everyone running for office-make them explain the difference. You know Lincoln-Douglas style or even Oxford. Man it would be awesome!

Until the prols who elected them get for themselves what they wanted for the bourgeoisie...it's always happened.

Democrat politicians are all for capitalism for themselves, but believe that everybody else is too stupid to know how to spend their own money, and live their lives without the government doing it for them, so the rest of the population must be controlled by communism.

Two different questions (do you have a favorable view of…) in two different years, not one question (capitalism or socialism) in two different years.

Media acting shocked. No one is shocked. All Democrats believe this. All encourage Marxist policies. The only thing different is these 3 are out of the closet and proud to hate America.

The irony is that socialists can only “redistribute” things produced by capitalism.

The deal used to be that the underclass gets their Section 8, EBT, SNAP, WIC, TANF, Medicaid, and myriad other taxpayer gibs and in return, the middle class gets decent jobs (with family healthcare and a pension), affordable homes in safe neighborhoods far removed from the underclass, and good public schools where their kids sit in classrooms where everyone else looks like they do.

Someone didn't keep up their end of the bargain and now where perplexed as to why so many young people now want their free stuff too?

Power. Democrats want power.

Republicans want money.

Guess who wins?

Many people on FR rightly see the flaws of socialism but don’t seem to ask themselves why socialism is becoming popular.

Sure it’s taught in school but there are plenty of people who know you have to listen to BS to get that diploma.

There is much more to this story.

I am no expert but neoliberalism on the right and Clinton/Blair “third way” politics might finally be bearing its unintended fruit.

Not saying this is what is causing this move to socialism, just that it should be considered.

I always get my best tech and consumer products from Cuba, North Korea, and Russia. They have the most vibrant, most risk-taking, most rewarding societies on earth.

Hey Harry, isn’t a “Democratic socialist” label kind of an oxymoron in the first place?

“...why socialism is becoming popular.”

$42,000,000,000,000 in a national debt has a lot to do with it, always somebody else’s money. There is no pain when there should be.

Do not underestimate the impact university education has. I’ve seen the influence on youth personally. Marxists proselytize, and they use every means at their disposal to do so.

It’s very disturbing that we went from the Korean War, passing the Communist Control Act in 1954, the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, fighting in Vietnam, to now having a self-declared Communist as Mayor of NYC.

This could not have happened, and would not have happened if it weren’t for the complicity of the media. The free press was supposed to be a safeguard against propaganda and subversion - but instead has become of tool to accomplish both.
