Allstate Insurance is running three TV ads that depict white males as psychos or fools. Meanwhile, everyone who isn't a white male is depicted in a favorable light.
The good news is that there are a few ways to make sure Allstate takes a hit for such racism. I'll get to that in a minute.
The three ads are:
- "Check First Bark" (has a white male barking at his boss, contrasted with a well-behaved black male in the background): youtube.com/watch?v=YRSG3o749Ms
- "Check First Jumbotron" (contrasts a white male *stealing candy from a kid* with a black male who stops him): youtube.com/watch?v=lUjKQFTeLis
- "Check First Bevo" (contrasts a while male who lets the U Texas mascot loose with a Hispanic male notices this and tries to retrieve the mascot): youtube.com/watch?v=tsyRq6n_e0M
What you can do about these ads are:
- Contact the schools involved, especially if you have some link to the school or their area. The schools are the Universities of Texas, Michigan, and Georgia. They undoubtedly received some money from Allstate, but if they end up looking bad they'll be wary of doing something similar again.
- Contact your local Allstate agent or regional headquarters, especially if you're an Allstate customer (and, if you are, drop them).
- Leave comments on Allstate's social media. Make sure the comments are designed to discredit Allstate to current and potential customers.
- Urge others to do those things too.

How about that Thumbtack commercial shows a white man hanging picture over food stain on wall. His wife, a black woman, shakes her head at how stupid he is and picks up a phone to contact Thumbtack for some kind of solution.

Whenever I hear an Allstate or Progressive commercial come on, I change the channel. Allstate has been running “stupid white man” commercials for some time (like the guy who comes to a University of Oregon tailgate party with smoked duck, etc.). Progressive has had a number of gay or “metrosexual” actors in their ads, and their stupid line about “becoming your parents” is an insult to anyone over 50 years old. Flo is irritating. But of course nothing is as bad as the “Kars for Kids” commercials.
Too bad others don’t have those critical thinking skills though.
Jake from State Farm used to be white. Now erased and replaced.
They are not the Lone Ranger in doing that. Over the years, every Company that has ran commercials depicting White People has done that. Rush Limbaugh pointed that out. Whites, if depicted, are portrayed as idiots, imbeciles, dunces, or worse. Mostly worse. But they are allowed to get away doing it.
No, they need to be mocked and called out.

I stopped watching television around 1998 because of this BS. I cannot watch network television with commercials.
If my wife tells me a movie I like is on television, I will absolutely rent it to watch it rather than watch it on television.
We don’t have those here, or maybe I just didn’t see them.

When they turned Jake black I was so pissed.
Today there was a string of six commercials on the show I was watching. Five of them were all black.
I called the company NYK and asked if their makeup was only for black people. Oh No! It isn’t. (so they say)
I asked why every woman in the commercial was black, I called them racists, and hung up.
This will NEVER end until we start boycotting the products.
