Republicans Have a Young Voter Problem
National Review ^ | November 9, 2025 | Becket Adams

Posted on 11/10/2025 2:14:34 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

Millions of words have been devoted to investigating the Democratic Party’s recent “young men” problem, as it has hemorrhaged support from male voters aged 18 to 29.

But on the other side of the aisle is the less-discussed fact that the Republican Party is enduring a more severe version of the Democrats’ demographic crisis: the GOP has lost an even greater share of female voters under 30.

Even less discussed is the fact that while Democrats are struggling, albeit pitifully, to win back young men, the right doesn’t seem to realize the seriousness of its own predicament, much less have a plan to fix it.

I suppose when you’re already used to surrendering voting blocs, as the Republican Party practically has in past elections with black and, to a lesser extent, Jewish voters, losing one more probably feels more a matter of routine than a sign of impending doom. (Indeed, one likely reason that so much more attention has been paid to the Democrats’ loss of young men is that, unlike the GOP, the Democratic Party is not one to lose entire groups of voters.)

Yet, considering that there are eight million more registered female voters than male voters in the United States, and considering that of the overall number of female voters, the 10 percent to 12 percent that fall into the 18-to-29 age bracket are much more politically active than men their age, Republicans cannot afford to accept defeat on this front. Democrats, in some cases, can afford to lose young men and make up the difference with their more politically engaged female counterparts. Republicans have no such cushion.

Miss, why aren’t you married?

I’m looking for a man with money. I want a beach house.

Why are you voting for a politician that would take away that man’s money?

I’d gouge out my own eyeballs before I’d actually *pay* NRO to read their elitist tripe.

I agree with you there. And I had a subscription to the magazine for over 15 years. Long ago, I gave up on them.

When I was young, I did a lot of stupid things, but voting for Communists and democrats was not one of them.

If that’s true, then why were they so threatened by Charlie Kirk and TPUSA to kill him off? It sure seems like there’s a lot of information operations and psyops published these days.

Young women do not stay young. Policies that make marriage and families attainable is the best way for these women to eventually mature in their voting patterns.

We already had the winning model in 2010. I still don't understand why we abandoned it.

But by not being protesters as our constitution demands of us the price we pay is the youth. All I am suggesting is that we start following the constitution again. It's so simple.

1) YOU need to be responsible for YOU.

***********************

I have a huge family and my wife has an even bigger family.
Over the last 10 to 15 years I’ve told multiple youngsters:

Stop chasing conspiracy theories and look in the mirror. The sooner you take control of your life and realize that you’re setting artificial barriers to success, the sooner you can progress up the economic ladder.

It seems to have worked with about half of them.(10 out of 20.)

People don’t like to hear it, and it won’t change my vote because I generally think elections are “pick the least bad option”... but the lines used to be clearer.

I’m not trying to pick a fight, I’m not trying to sow discord (quite the opposite), but words have meaning and principles are principles.

I’ve long been loyal - and satisfied with scraps. DOGE? Love it. But I can do math - and whenever I hear big numbers? I want receipts (and the books and I can read them, too).

At a certain point? If you’re just selling me different flavors of Big Government? I will choose to buy neither.

Amen, brother.

Capitalism works if you work it.

Money breeds like rabbits in both directions. Debt? Profit? Your choice. That’s the beauty: It’s *your* choice.

and what’s sad about that is we needed insane, in-your-face, violent, retaliatory ‘feminism’ to get young men, many of them my peers, to shift ever so slightly to the right.
