Will & Grace actress Debra Messing has courted backlash after sharing on election day a political meme suggesting that New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is a "jihadist."
As Americans headed to the polls Tuesday, the 57-year-old Emmy winner reposted an image on her verified Instagram Story from another account called The Persian Jewess. The original image showed an edited ballot that listed two candidates: One that read, "A Democrat. Just a Democrat," and the other that said, "An actual communist jihadist. A literal Karl Marx-quoting, America-hating jihadist."
The Persian Jewess account initially shared the image with a caption that read, "This isn’t just a mayoral race. It’s the battle for Democracy itself. New York City, make the right choice. Vote for [Andrew] Cuomo. Vote for NYC. Vote for Democracy," and used the hashtag #ZohranMamdani at the end of the caption.
Messing received criticism on social media following the move, with many slamming her decision to share a post calling Mamdani — the son of Queen of Katwe and Mississippi Masala film director Mira Nair — as a jihadist, a term often used to describe those who violently defend Islamic ideals.

In some of Mamdani‘s campaign stops, unsmiling men in traditional Muslim garb can be seen standing behind him.
It will be interesting to see if that trend continues (or increases).
Well, well, well. Isn’t this ironic? Debra Messing usually is a uber-Liberal who is on board with every single Woke talking point including slamming Trump and conservatives for a whole slew of imagined crimes. Now the shoe is on the other foot. I know it sounds petty, but I’m glad she is getting crucified by the Left. I’d say that maybe it will cause her to wise up and be more mature in her opinions, but I doubt it. She’ll be s__tposting about Trump soon enough.
It means that every Muslim should act like they have a chip on their shoulder and rise up against their "colonizing oppressors" (like "Palestinians" do). Even though Muslims migrated here to the U.S., they should act like they're being colonized and fight back.
