I admit my headline is clickbait and based on a dream that could never happen. Javier Milei is the president of Argentina, not an American.
Further, Zohran Mamdani appears to have a lock on the New York City mayoral election, if only because Republican Curtis Sliwa will not drop out. That his real competition is the tarnished Andrew Cuomo doesn’t help either.
Neither of these men has anything close to President Milei’s charisma, let alone his originality. Neither, for that matter, does Mamdani, whose “democratic socialism” is just the same old, same old in new clothes.
Nevertheless, the victory a couple of days ago of his polar opposite, the libertarian Javier Milei, in his own Argentina, is something to celebrate.
Our supposed betters in the legacy media had told us ad nauseam that Milei was a goner. They fairly chortled about it. The reverse proved to be true. Even the NYT was forced to knuckle under:
“The decisive victory of President Javier Milei of Argentina in legislative elections on Sunday gave him a critical boost, with voters from the mountains of Patagonia to the farmlands in the Pampa casting their ballot to back his sweeping economic experiment.
“Some 8,000 miles north of Buenos Aires, in Washington, the Trump administration was also counting it as a victory.”
It should. Our president, through his superb Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, pumped $20 bn into Argentina’s faltering economy in time for its election.

How Milei and Mamdani are opposites is almost too many to mention. We could start with the obvious: the difference between libertarianism and socialism. Both of these men are remarkably “true to their schools.”

UPDATE: The more we learn about Zohran Mamdani, the more despicable (and sick) he is revealed to be. Perhaps we need a new hyphenated category for him—Islamist/sociopath. Recently, it was the “aunt” who was so terrified to wear her hijab immediately after 9/11 (never mind the thousands killed, it was the “aunt” that was important), and then turned out, when it was discovered the candidate’s only real aunt was a highly secular, hijab-less woman, who lived in Tanzania, he really meant his nameless “cousin,” who had conveniently passed away several years go.
Now, via the NY Post, “Zohran Mamdani made vile, conspiracy-tinged statement tying NYPD to IDF, resurfaced video shows”. That would be hilarious if it weren’t so far into Jew hatred (forget the relatively passive “antisemitism”) that it crosses the border into outright insanity.
Don’t make Sliwei out to be the bad guy here. He is the only decent option. the people choosing are the idiots. And let’s not forget the republican party who refused to put out any support for their candidate~
Why shoujld Curtis Sliwa drop out?
To free republicans in hopes they can help save democrats from electing Mamdani?
If democrats want the worst possible candidate let them have it.
Establishment demiocrats turned NY City into a welfare holding pen never thinking that the radical leftists would turn on them.
If democrats are now hell bent on installing an Islamo-Commie as mayor and finishing off NY City let them have at it !!!
Let them get what they vote for.
Amen. When Moncommie gets in, his Marxist legislation will filter over to upstate.
Too bad most NY’ers are too stupid to elect a guy like Miles, even if one were to run for office there.
*Milei
If he wants to do the "right thing", he'll drop out and endorse Cuomo.
Too bad the New York Republican State Committee can’t see fit to find viable Republican candidates to run for Mayor of NY, Governor of NY, Attorney General of NY, or U.S. Senator from NY. They’ve been MIA for years on this. Even the life-long RAT Bloomberg was allowed to run as a Republican in 2000 for Mayor, only because no RAT would have won after Rudy. The GOP in New York State might as well not exist. They’ve done a horrible job over the years.
