No, I know David Horowitz was SDS and looked at the crazy and eventually became Conservative. He might have actually written it or it might have just been a "Commonplace" saying among SDS members.

I had some classmates that went down to the 1968 riots in Grant Park in Chicago. They were a bit creepy at the time, but became really creepy after that and and I did not have much else to do with them. Chicago had a lot of really true believer leftists who tried to put their beliefs into practice in Chicago with the current result.

No, Abbie Hoffman was from MA. I lived in N. Illinois.

Per Wikipedia: Abbie Hoffman

"Abbot Howard Hoffman was born November 30, 1936, in Worcester, Massachusetts,"

"According to family accounts, the Hoffmans originally bore the surname Shapoznikoff and were lower-middle-class Jewish shopkeepers in Russia. Seeking to escape czarist repression, a relative named Jacob Shapoznikoff allegedly obtained or assumed the identity of a German named Hoffman to emigrate to the United States. He traveled via Siberia and Japan to California, eventually settling in New York, where he facilitated the immigration of other family members. Hoffman's paternal grandparents, Morris and Anna Shapoznikoff, immigrated to the U.S. around 1910."

..."he enrolled at nearby Brandeis University, where he studied under professors such as noted psychologist Abraham Maslow, often considered the father of humanistic psychology.[13] He was also a student of Marxist theorist Herbert Marcuse, who Hoffman said had a profound effect on his political outlook. Hoffman would later cite Marcuse's influence during his activism and his theories on revolution."

Father engaged in Immigration Fraud to come here. Abbey was an early troublemaker and nasty little shit his entire life. More at the Wikipedia link.

Wasn’t Abbie Hoffman involved in the 1968 Democrat Convention protests, though?.....................
