We lived in Lakeland from 1979 to 2006. Couldn’t take the heat or the traffic any longer. It was nice at first, but the growth was too much for us. Neither one of us was from FL so we were ready to experience 4 seasons again.

Seriously though, I lived in south Florida for 25 years and both the weather and traffic drove me north...north central Florida where we actually do get seasons, albeit for a few weeks at a time outside summer, though the uncontrolled growth in so FL really drove us to move. That was 21 years ago...getting just as bad here, now.
