EXCLUSIVE: The FBI responded on Saturday to a report that 274 plainclothes agents were at the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, clarifying the role of bureau personnel while still blasting former Director Christopher Wray.
While the agents were on hand, they were sent in after the riot had begun to try to control the unruly crowd, officials told Fox News Digital. That is not the proper role of FBI agents, and Wray was not forthcoming about what happened when he testified numerous times on Capitol Hill, Director Kash Patel said.
"Agents were sent into a crowd control mission after the riot was declared by Metro Police – something that goes against FBI standards," Patel told Fox News Digital. "This was the failure of a corrupt leadership that lied to Congress and to the American people about what really happened."
He added, "Thanks to agents coming forward, we are now uncovering the truth. We are fully committed to transparency, and justice and accountability continues with this FBI."
There’s no indication any FBI agents were involved in any events related to Trump’s speech on the morning of Jan. 6 at the Ellipse, an FBI official told Fox News Digital, adding that Wray should have disclosed that agents were there when he was asked by congressional leaders.

I have trouble giving Patel any slack.
I think both he and Blondi have been doing a bit of institutional gatekeeping rather than performing the mission that Trump sent them on which is to BREAK things in institutional bureaucracies in which a lot of things need to be broken.
I’d be a lot less harsh IF IF IF there was information forthcoming on RAY EPPS.
From my view, if this was a hoax as Trump and most on this forum believe, then Epps is the “Rosetta Stone” at ground zero that can explain how the hoax was set in motion.
I’m not paying much attention to Patel until the name Ray Epps comes out of his mouth.
People like Wray not only think we’re stupid, they’re arrogant enough to think they can say and do whatever they please and not get caught doing so.
Let us prove them wrong!
No one’s buying the plainclothes FBI sent in AFTER protests got “out of hand”. The times of the orders have likely been falsified to absolve FBI of incitement and entrapment.
All the FBI agents that were involved should be fired. Any FBI agent willing to go along with a political and weaponized operation has no place working for USG. Sorry, I think the average FBI should know when something is political and weaponized operation. If an agent suspects operation is controversial, the director must clearly give the order and explain the rationale for the operation.
Let’s get a vigorous investigation and prosecute the inevitable coverup.
We can’t have SOL let them off.
Its a silly narrative from Patel
If you want “crowd control” you send massed, uniformed police to make a show of force. You set barriers, you have phalanx, you clearly show “rioters” there is a police response.
You do not send undercover, dispersed, plainclothes, cops/agents. They can do nothing to control a crowd.
I expect MORE charges to be brought against Comey. New charges against Wray, Brennan, Clapper, McCabe, Stzok, Page and others. Oh yeah, what about Obama?
All the GOOD STUFF is in those BURN BAGS, a treasure trove of communications; memos, reports, etc., that IMPLICATE all the deep state players.
Waiting..
Ray Epps is The Rosetta Stone!

To see Ray spill his Guts
Under Oath on the 6 o’clock
News would Be Great.
You send in PLAIN CLOTHES agents AFTER a RIOT to help control the riot?
I guess it depends on what you mean by the word “Control”.
I recall reading that agents were sent to Ferguson. But, while the riots were in progress the agents refused to go to the scene. They were terrified and they demanded to be returned to the station. So, sure, the rioting was so bad on Jan 6 that undercover agents were sent in for crowd control. Yeah, riiiiight! Patel should be ashamed to have put out such a statement. The sooner he disavows this the better.
If the FBI knows the identity of every agent, then each agent who was present needs to produce a copy of a written report, plus each agent needs to identify the supervisor who directed them to go to the scene and what their instructions were.

Well reasoned my friend. Thank you.
Bump
If they were sent in for “crowd control” then why weren’t they wearing those famous jackets with FBI in 12 inch letters. It is now necessary to put each of those 260 agents individually under oath before Congress and ask them just what their mission was and who ordered them. They should also be reminded that there are severe penalties for perjury.
Bump!
Sounds like something Blondi would say.
Trump needs to do something about Patel. What a disappointment.
How precisely were plainclothes agents, whose existence was unknown to the police, supposed to have any positive effect on “crowd control.” Every one of these agents needs to give a full account of every action they took on J6. As a matter of fact, every FBI agent should have to provide a full account of their actions between 2016 and now. Patel needs to be replaced with someone who has the proper distrust of this agency.
Try again, Kash.
That is exactly the question Patel needed to ask when he was given this BS explanation. If he didn't ask it then, he needs to ask it now. And he needs to demand copies of the reports on his desk PRONTO!
