Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett claimed on “Getting Better with Jonathan Van Ness” Wednesday that committing crimes does not make a person a “criminal.”
Crockett was previously a public defender, civil rights and criminal defense attorney, specializing in “defending our most vulnerable among us from exploitation in the criminal justice system,” according to her official biography. She said on the podcast that she has spoken to people who were “committing crimes” and that she “understood” their motivations.
“[U]nderstanding what ends up having people become criminally impacted really informs so much of what I do legislatively, right?” Crockett said. “So, when people are like, ‘Oh, you know, crime is terrible.’ And yes, it is, right? Like, because when somebody goes out and commits a crime, they don’t typically, you know, say, ‘Well, I’m a D or I’m an R or I’m an I.’ Literally, like it’s about, well, how do you fix it? How do you make communities safer?”
“And I do think that I’m in a unique situation because I was having the conversations with people that were going out and committing crimes. And so I understood what was kind of pushing them there,” she continued. “And so I do want people to know that just because someone has committed a crime, it doesn’t make them a criminal. That is completely different. Being a criminal is more so about your mindset. Committing a crime can come for a lot of different reasons.”
President Donald Trump has made cracking down on crime a significant part of his second-term agenda. For instance, he deployed the National Guard and took other measures to tackle crime in the nation’s capital on Aug. 11, with violent crimes subsequently declining.
However, Democrats have not been as eager to clamp down on crime.
Nearly all House Democrats voted against Republican legislation aimed at reducing juvenile crime in the nation’s capital on Tuesday as the House of Representatives passed two bills to roll back soft-on-crime policies that the GOP argues embolden repeat offenders and deter local law enforcement.
Does she even qualify for ‘dimwit’ rank? I don’t think so, she’s still about 3 levels below that distinction.
Rhodes is in an old part of Memphis. It’s pretty run down now. Too bad she didn’t get attacked by a non-criminal committing a crime.
She probably avoids the coastline when she’s on Guam, too.
“Democra Dimwit” is redundant. One should not use both terms. One of them is sufficient, but capitalize Dimwit to distinguish it from other sorts of miniminds.
She’s one of those retarded idiot liberals who call criminals ‘justice involved individuals’, as if that makes their crimes less problematic for them and society. No wonder she got elected in a district full of mostly non-white criminals.
I live right near Rhodes. Nothing but gunfire to the north and west. Overton Park to the south, so that’s quiet. The east side is awful and dangerous. All the gunfire comes from Chelsea, McLean, University, Edwards, Brown, Hunter.
“Understanding what ends up having people become criminally impacted really informs so much of what I do legislatively, right?”
Pseudo-intellectual twaddle. Authentic Frontier Gibberish right there, I’ve learned over the years to spot it. Our universities have churned out countless numbers of credentialed idiots just like her. Belligerently Ignorant. They just repeat this crap like it’s some sort of magical incantation. Merely saying something makes it true.
Rhodes College is so dangerous outside the gates that students enrolled can no longer live off-campus. Thugs would lay in wait for a late night keg party and then attack when everyone is stupid drunk. Students got killed from the attacks.
I’m sure many decades ago it was a nice neighborhood. Love the homes around the school. Look 40s or so.
“idiots just like her. Belligerently Ignorant.”
“Belligerently ignorant”. Excellent!
My 14-year-old niece belligerently knows more that any of us re climate change, etc. If someone disagrees with her, she glowers “belligerent” scorn and derision.
Never mind that one of us is PhD who analyzed global weather for the military. My niece knows better. 🙄
The accent, the makeup, the clothes are all calculated to appeal to certain people and project a certain aura.
Once you look at the spokesmen for the Democrats and think these are the dancing puppets who have no power you can then start looking for the people who are actually pulling the strings.
Mostly people you would not know if you ran into them on the street.
There are truly revealing 'before-and-after' videos of whig-whomper that show Jasmeen 'before' as composed if not quite as intelligent as Condi or even Susan Rice; the 'after' video is what clearly depicts a black woman who has gone through a mental break and not just adopted but integrated an identity as a B-list hoopdie entertainer.
FWIW, Rhodes tuition is about $70K per year. Good pre-med success rates on the MCATS. Same with pre-law. Good LSAT scores.
You can buy a lot of house in Memphis for a very low cost. Great medical centers. Great specialists. Just live life knowing that you are responsible for your own safety. Plan accordingly without exception.
Is Rhodes a lefty type college?
That leaves for enough privileged white guilt that they pull some of the Memphis locals, mostly females. My neighbors were from Newport, RI, Manhattan, Gulf Shores, and San Antonio. Until the school changed housing policy, parents would just buy a house with 4 bedrooms a few blocks from campus. Then they would sell it after graduation or after grad school. That's not allowed anymore for safety concerns.
Yes, spoiled lefties, which is quite full of contradictions.
Very interesting. Thanks.
So lying doesn’t make you a liar? Stealing doesn’t make you a thief? Raping someone doesn’t make you a rapist? This lady continues the fine Leftist tradition of making intelligible communication impossible by arbitrarily denying the definition of words on a whim.
Pure affirmative action. Give her an A and pass her on to avoid being called you-know-what.
Stupid freaking ghettopotamus.
