“Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan”
A good American name..
Just what the Founding Fathers envisioned, right?
Mussolini would understand this well. By the way, the commerce secretary was Epstein’s next-door neighbor for about 15 years during his most active time. Their house and share a wall. Probably just a coincidence.
Are they gonna start hiring Americans?
And what happens when somebody else wants to start a chip manufacturing company? Think the government would tolerate a direct competitor? That’s the problem with government owned businesses. It’s quite literally the central concept of fascism. The government/corporate partnership.
Great to see that the United States is now shifting to. Is it crony capitalism or crony socialism as regards to owning stock in private corporations. Of course this is really nothing new.
Only valid if that 10% is on defense contract with the U.S.
Otherwise more unconstitutional federal acts.
The new government bailout program. Great plan! Take a bet by helping a public company and gain ownership. Longterm the American citizens benefit.
I didn’t vote for socialism. Divest as soon as possible.
Bad move - our federal government should not be directly directing private companies or have a direct share in them. We don’t need CCP style, Soviet style, Nazi Germany style “national industrial policies”.
..but INTEL owns 100% of the U.S.
So what happens if someone like AMD starts to get better market share? Do they suddenly find themselves awash in environmental lawsuits?
I remember when people here screamed “Socialism!!!” when Bush bailed out GM and the USA “owned” some of it for awhile.
Funny how that’s perfectly okay now.
This is a bad idea, probably the first thing president Trump has i don’t like. But what do i know seems like a terrible precedent.
Problem: Government wants an easy way to spy on all Americans.
Solution: Take advantage of Microsoft’s shady business practices by starting an anti-trust suit and settling with a proviso to create a back door into the operating system.
Problem: With diminishing trust in Microsoft’s increasing spyware type tactics like its customer experience software, the number of Americans the government can spy on easily get fewer and fewer as they migrate to Linux (hard to hide backdoors in open source software).
Solution: Get back doors into the most common microprocessor.
Apple dumped Intel processors when Intel failed to provide versions that were sufficiently advanced for Apple’s needs.
