True, some people were between a rock and a hard place - I was fortunate enough to have been retired.
I don’t fault those people who were under that kind of pressure.
Still, it was disappointing to see how few pushed back even a little, and your 30% estimate of those leaning toward critical thinking seems a bit high - at least from what I observed.
It was so obvious to me it was political. True story: I played in a cover band and when they started letting restaurants open again and have live music, masks were optional, and about half of the patrons wore masks and half didn’t.
I could literally walk up to people whose politics I knew nothing about and if they were not wearing masks I’d say “Go Trump!” and get it right every single time.
“And we haven’t done a damn thing to punish those responsible.”
And Fauci will continue to be as free as a bird.
If he does come to some sort of justice, it’ll be tricky for Trump since he was the biggest missionary for the shot. (But never mandated it.)
What’s notable is how quickly and correctly there was a “It’s just the flu” bros group posting threads here.
Then, the flood of propaganda from both the MSM and the “alternative media” got more and more into the web of believing there was a new, spreading, deadly virus—even if they were suitably suspicious of the jabs.

Most of the info I got re the dangers of the vax was from watching War Room. When ultra lib Naomi Wolf was brazen about bucking the system and mandates by Dems,I listened.
The holocaust is still rather fresh in her memory having lost grandparents then. The comparisons she made between the holocaust and the Covid mandates made you sit up and take notice.

There is always a rational "Plan B, or C" to anyone, as long as you keep your expectations low.
My company had Vax mandates (Fed defense contract), but enough of us (older, experienced) employees just were adamant that we were NOT going to get it. Come what may, (I could have lost a very good job with great pay, knowing that at my age I wouldn't get picked up by another company).
My company, afraid to lose so many senior people, pushed back against the Feds and found an "out" for any employee that wanted it.
My blood is still pure as the, well, relatively pure....
My company had a mandate. Over 20% of the company refused to get the shot and threatened to quit. They didn’t believe us until key players started to quit. That ended the mandate.

I caught the Covid a few years after retirement. Was hospitalized & then on rehab both for well-extended periods. To this day, I feel generally well except for extreme weakness, poor appetite & equilibrium,no endurance, completely unable to do but very little work. Hard to say what was in all those IV’s.
Trump could not have known that the greatest scientists and health professionals in the world were in fact scum, self-serving liars, and frauds, with a huge strain of Nazi-totalitarianism thrown in all supported by ignorant sycophants. And most of all we were betrayed by fools with degrees from elite universities.
One weird Covid19 dynamic among some of the less clever MAGA types - was the schizophrenic disconnect when they both
A) wanted to dismiss it as a harmless fraud, a PlanDemic, and
B) wanted to hype it as devastating extinction level CCP bioweapon attack.

Both the hospital protocols and jabs were killers, so it of course wasn’t just a psychological scam. But even here still, people post every week about how they’ve come down with “Covid”.
Hmmm. Maybe the plan is to control people with something akin to a TV controller. (?) With the push of a button maybe they could cause a compulsion to overeat or perhaps consume dangerous amounts of alcohol or narcotics.
Maybe it’s a way to commit mass murder and NEVER be suspected of such a thing..
