I bought a couple conversion kits off of Amazon a couple months ago and they work great. I was spilling more gas with the new tanks then I ever did with the old.

The problem with the plastic cans is that the new spouts rot when exposed to the heat and the fuel vapors. And they break when you attempt to open them afterwards.

Mostly you just have to run a drill down the spout and break off the latch mechanisn. Same for the shower heads.

I always buy the replacement spout kits that come with a breather that you install. They work great. The original “push” spouts are garbage. They cause spills rather than preventing them.

These are cheap on Amazon. I have 10 BJ's cans with my gas reserves for SW Florida hurricane fuel for my 15KW generator. For about $3 per can you get a spout and a vent for the annoying cans of the last 20 years.
