The Army Just Killed the M10 Booker. It Was the Right Call.
National Security Journal ^ | 7/23/2025 | Andrew Latham

The U.S. Army has officially canceled the M10 Booker armored vehicle program as part of a major acquisition reform initiative. The decision was driven by a strategic shift away from counter-insurgency towards preparing for high-intensity peer conflict, a role for which the M10 was ill-suited. The vehicle failed on multiple fronts: it became too heavy for air deployment, was no longer cost-effective, and could not be adapted for future battlefields.

This happens when generals design things when they get kick backs from the contractors.

I worked on a fighter jet project 11 years ago that was side to replace the A10s. It was a great plane, cheap, fast, adaptable. Then the generals got involved and it went to crap. The project was scrapped soon after.

The Army had the right system in the 1990’s. The M8 Armored Gun System was cancelled before production because the Cold War ended. The Army also turned it down two other times. Instead they got a now obsoleted Stryker variant and the Booker.Yup. I was an engineer on the CCV-L, so I know it was a good system ;-) Only drawback was that we had an autoloader, and loaders (men) could load faster than it.

Because he’s a coward at heart who wants others to fight in his precious proxy wars, never himself.
He doesn’t truly believe in the cause.

High intensity peer conflict. Against a similarly equipped foe and trained foe with lots of combat.

Many of those ended up as puddles of molten aluminum in RVN.

I have a little seat time in an Abrams when I was in NG back in the 90s and totally agree with you.

It takes a good crew to have an effective tank.

Recently I bought my first RC tank and it came with a few frustrations but I got it to work, mostly anyway.

The manual was flat out wrong about track tension. I had to open up the hull. The tensioner nuts were some oddball tiny size that a rusted 7/32 box end that fit by some miracle. None of my other small SAE and metrics would. I went through all of the ones I had and almost gave up.

Wheels would randomly come off. Loctite to the rescue a few times. That fix has held.

It was fun driving around on a 95 degree day. The tank did better than me after a couple of hours.

The M60 in the desert scheme kit looks good and now runs almost that well.

Both of you guys have obviously never read a post by me.

I don’t care about Ukraine. They are a corrupt speed bump on the way to civilized Europe.

But, if that is where the Russians are going, that is where I want them killed. It is best to kill Russians.

If the Ukes are willing to do it, then my kids won’t have to do it when they invade Poland.

So, I’ve never been bashful about what I want to see happen. When a cockroach raises their head, they get stomped on. When a Russian leaves the Motherland, they should be killed. In their own country, I couldn’t care less about them. But when they metastasize, like any cancer, they need to be obliterated.

Is that clear enough for you, Comrade?

If that will get Russians killed and left on the battlefield for the crows…thats fine with me.

See the post above this one. You mistake me for a fan of Ukraine. I am not. I simply despise all things Russian. They need to be eradicated. If they would stay in their cage, it would be fine. But, like any wild animal that gets out of their enclosure, they should be killed to protect the rest of the world.

I’ve said this many times. But you FRussians are evidently thick. But…go ahead with your retarded Zeeper stuff.

Ahh…that proves my point.

Russians outside their country deserve to be killed.

How does this make me a supporter of Ukraine. It IS possible to despise Russians without supporting those people.

Not really, unless you see penumbras and emmenations.

It’s not our fight, we shouldn’t be involved.
And only psychopaths wish death.

According to AI, modern fighting vehicle designers are still ghey for aluminum armor.
