These gun turn-in events "buybacks" are averaging about a hundred guns in Montgomery. Several of the guns have been worth 4-6 times what the organizers are offering.

The guns can be turned in anonymously. Lots of these guns are turned in by criminals who who keep the best for their stash and collect money safely from these stupid events.

The term gun buyback implies the government was the original/previous/rightful owner of the firearm and that the citizen is somehow an illegitimate/unlawful possessor.
