The person many regard as the dumbest senator in America ended up red-faced after trying to humiliate the nation’s secretary of defense with an inane question at a congressional hearing on Wednesday.
As NBC News reported, Pete Hegseth testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee regarding the Pentagon’s budget request.
During the hearing, he was hit with multiple questions regarding the Iran-Israel conflict and military deployments in Los Angeles. The latter became particularly fiery once dim-witted Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) got her chance to interrogate the defense secretary.
Hirono decided to try to humiliate Hegseth with a sick question designed to paint Trump as a tyrannical dictator, implying that he wanted protesters to get shot for exercising their First Amendment rights.
Of course, force would be justifiable if said agitators decided to assault law enforcement, which has consistently happened in riots all over the country.
“If ordered by the President to shoot peaceful protesters in the legs, would you carry out such an order?” Hirono inquired.
Hegseth was ready, though, and promptly swatted Hirono aside.
“Senator, as I have said before, of course, I reject the premise of your question,” Hegseth replied. “And the characterization that I would be given unlawful orders, it’s all meant to smear the commander in chief, and I won’t fall for it.
That’s how it’s done.
Hegseth also left Hirono dismayed after she demanded to know whether he would follow a court ruling that said sending federal troops (Marines, for example) into America’s cities was illegal.
After Hegseth pointed out that the ruling was still pending, he stated that district courts should not determine national security policy and that the administration would decide once it reached the Supreme Court.

“Not even communist would vote in such a moron”
Having lived in Hawaii for twenty-five years, I’ve observed you can NEVER underestimate the stupidity of the Hawaii Democrat voter.
Born and raised on the west coast of the United States.
with family in AK, WA, OR, and CA, I ended up in HI. Thanks to the military I have a good “feel” for many other parts of the USA.
Hawaii has to have the stupidest voters in America. They even elect dead people(Patsy Mink)!
Why you may ask did I choose to stay in Hawaii?
I like the weather, I had a good paying job from which I retired. I have a “gentleman’s” farm, everything is paid for. And because of rampant Nepotism, I live in very rural Hawaii and they really can’t bother me too much. The government is too stupid(they reflect the people that elected them) to bother with my minor transgressions eg.
When it is safe I have burned my trash without a permit.
It is not like I can pollute more than the active volcano I live on!!! It periodically shoots lava 1000 feet into the air and daily tons of Sulfur Dioxide.
My ideal places to live would be waterfront with acreage in MS or AL. I could easily afford such a place, But wife is scared of Snakes and bugs which are a big part of Southern living. So I suffer in Hawaii.
Aloha!
Rand Paul for one.
People like Hirono make the coming political violence inevitable.
Great choice Mr. President.
Did she answer, I see that you will not answer my question, reclaiming my time.
The Left hates the fight in this batch of Trump picks - and Trump - far more than they hate his policies. They’re getting kicked in the junk regularly and it is glorious.
Call Mazie the dumbest senator all you want. But my money is still on Patty Murray. D-Wa (”D” for dumb)
Fat Pig says what?
Exactly.
We men folk need someone to cook and clean and not question us the way god intended.
You always hear dumb-ass Leftists like her ask questions like "When you were confronted by the rapist/assaulter/mugger/home invader, why didn't you shoot him in the leg or shoot the gun out of his hand?"
At all.
Patty Murray is my pick too. Nobody rocks the resting retard face like she does. Mouth breather too.
Pete always does well in these confrontations. Proud of him. The media still run articles every week or two like “How long with Hegseth last?” Looks like as long as he wants.
I'm not sure if she's the dumbest...we need an IQ test with Senator Van Holland (D-El Salvador), Senator Chris Murphy, Senator Richard BloomingIdiot (D - Stolen Valor), Senator Liz Warren (D- Jeep Cherokee) and any other D Senators. We need to make sure she's the dumbest... 😀
There were many on this forum who disparaged Hegseth, saying he wasn't the right man for the job, didn't have enough experience, blah blah blah, and I engaged in discourse with many of them. I had read his book before he came up for confirmation.
My feeling was, we didn't need someone who understood the corporate-like functioning of the military because he never ran a company of any size. I said he has people he can delegate to that will provide him with that knowledge.
They said he doesn't have the political chops to engage in infighting to overturn the status quo. I said he was a real-life door-kicker in the military, and we need someone to kick down those doors.
Very few if any of those people ever came back and gave Hegseth any credit which shows something about them.
When Hegseth said:
"Everything starts and ends with warriors, from training to the battlefield. We are leaving wokeness and weakness behind. No more pronouns. No more climate change obsession. No more emergency vaccine mandates. No more dudes in dresses, we're done with that shit."
My support for him was fully vindicated in every way since his confirmation, not just in results ranging from recruitment to readiness, but in rhetoric and leadership.
Dems been watching to many Western movies. Only in movies can you do that...
I agree with that.
And then I think of Hank Johnson.
And I realize that no system is perfect.
🤢🤮
When he dropped that "s-bomb", I knew he was the right MAN to lead our military.
THAT is why recruitment is up. And a good thing, too!
