Canada’s not either, but China and India are.
Russia was in the then-G8 (and punches above its weight economically).
“Russia has the more nuclear weapons than all the pipsqueaks in the G7 combined.”
Cool. The G7 is not a military treaty organization. Based on your criterion, Pakistan and North Korea should perhaps have seats on the G7 too.
Talk about being delusional. How does an independent, western leaning Ukraine lead to regime change in Russia and the appropriation of its resources?
LOL! Brilliant! ๐
Trump wants to do personal business in China, the world’s largest economy as measured by PPI.
Agreed.
Actually I donโt think Canada is top 7.
No, I’m pointing out your hypocrisy for being concerned the West will rob Russia of its resources while the real thief is already in the Kremlin.
And you can't make up your "facts" and get us to believe them. Cite all the Brussels propaganda think tanks and DC NGOs you want
Other sources tell us - Russia produces nearly twice the electricity that Germany does. It produces 3X the steel. It's the 3rd largest oil producer in the world, and 2nd in natural gas. It's #1 or #2 in most metals and metal products. After the USA (and recently France) its the 3rd largest weapons exporter. Even in computer chip fab plants, Russia is 7th globally. I will grant you - Russia is 14th in fast-food consumption (even though Germany is 20th)
GDP is a questionable statistic to start with, and in the hands of biased propagandists, it turns into complete BS
You've gone beyond that, and use such BS for strategic policy recommendations. Shame on you.
“Russia was in the then-G8 (and punches above its weight economically).”
?????
German GDP per capita = $54,343.23 (all numbers 2023)
UK.................................= $49,463.86
Russia............................= $13,817.05
THAT is punching above it’s weight??
Do you not understand what “punching above its weight” means?
And it was a way to bring Russia into the West after the USSR fell.
And here, pal: https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-by-country/
PDS is strong with this one.
Forget Brussels. THE BANK OF RUSSIA claims a Russian GDP of 201.2 trillion rubles ($2.41 trillion) for 2024. In no way is it in the big leagues.
Picking random industries to make your argument is sad and misleading. “Turkey produces more tobacco than Germany! Serbia produces more slivovitz!”
I haven’t a clue, since Russian economic growth has been 1-2% since 2010, excluding COVID and excluding the current downturn.
Does it mean invading its neighbors (ten times since 1991!)? Then yes, Russia is most definitely punching above its weight.
As I mentioned - in a sanctioned currency.
The point is, your argument that Russia is far outside the G-7, and can be ignored, is utter nonsense.
I'll summarize it, since you find it difficult to understand - Russia is near the top of ALL things that make a large, modern economy, materials, energy, technology.
Don't try to dismiss this with childish comments about Turkey and Tobacco, to push your awful, DC deep-state, warmonger agenda.
Didn’t they let Russia in, then kick them out so they could freeze their assets?
How do you count wealth? How do you count power? Can power be counted as wealth? If so, Russia should be part of this group. They have many nukes, control many political puppet states, and exert their influence globally. They should have a chair.
It was never in the top eight BEFORE sanctions.
Mexico is tops in agave and avocados. Colombia in coffee. Cherry-picking industries does NOT = GDP.
By the way, in your laundry list of “Russya Strong!”, you somehow included TECHNOLOGY as a Russian strong suit. I’m assuming that that was a proof-reading error. Russia is importing cars from China and drones from Iran. Cars and drones are NOT advanced tech, but even these Russia is incapable of producing in quantity on its own.
One last point: Westerners (like Tucker Carlson some months ago) equate Moscow and St. Petersburg with Russia. The fact is that those cities are where the money goes. In aggregate the country is backwards and poor.
According to a 2018 study by the Russian State Statistics Service (Rosstat), only approximately 77.4% of households had indoor plumbing.
