Major General Hossein Salami
Salami was the commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), an elite military force, who reported directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He was the highest ranking official killed in the attacks.
Major General Mohammad Bagheri
Bagheri had served as the chief of Iran’s Armed Forces General Staff (AFGS) since June 2016 when he was appointed to the position. Prior to this, he fought in the Iran-Iraq War and had extensive experience with military intelligence and operations.
Major General Gholam Ali Rashid
A veteran IRGC leader, Rashid was the commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, the most important strategic military command body in Iran, according to US Treasury documents. He was appointed to the role in June 2016.
Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh
Hajizadeh was the head of the IRGC’s Air Defence and was understood to be responsible for Tehran’s growing drone capabilities in recent years.
Fereydoun Abbasi
Abbasi served as head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, the government agency responsible for all nuclear-related activities, from 2011 to 2013, and also served in the Iranian parliament for four years from 2020 to 2024.
Mohammad-Mehdi Tehranci
Tehranci, a theoretical physicist, served as a president of the Isalmic Azad University and has been described in Iranian reports as a proponent of Iranian scientific sovereignty.
