On Sunday, The Atlantic magazine published a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory by David Frum based not on fact, but entirely on the speculation of a fervid liberal imagination.
In "For Trump, This Is a Dress Rehearsal," Frum provides his theory that former President Donald Trump called out the National Guard during the immigration riots in Los Angeles to prepare for a military takeover of the 2026 midterms.

Frum just gave us a great example of "Tell me how you never served in the U.S. military without telling me you never served in the U.S. military."
The military would never follow orders for a midterm coup in violation of the Constitution. Not going to happen. They will follow orders to protect federal personnel and property and, if necessary, repress an actual rebellion.
