FWIW I found this on Gunzone.com.

2. How much did an M1 Garand cost for civilians after WW2?

Civilians could purchase an M1 Garand through the CMP for as little as $20 to $40, depending on the condition and configuration.

Oswald couldn’t/wasn’t become a member of the CMP. He defected to the Soviet Union, was a communist fag, remember?

Klein’s wanted at least double what the Carcano was for a Garand. He didn’t have a lot of money. He didn’t look too worried about it in any case, about the rifle itself, in that famous pic.

Anyhoo, it is Silly to get wrapped around the axle about the rifle.

It goes bang, hits what you aim at. Any questions? Jeeze Louise
