This is why I tend to give Patel and Bondi a pass. A very small pass.
They are in way over their heads. They want to say and do the right things, but the level of safeguards within the FBI and DOJ are so deeply entrenched there is little to nothing to be done at least in the near future.

I see no sign they are doing a damn thing about the corruption. They make big splashes with a few drug busts.
I have no issue with Bondi and Kash.
They think the job is very tough.
In the business world when the employee tells you they are having trouble handling the challenges of the job it is wise to believe them.
Then fire them.
It is not personal. It is not a reflection on them.
But—the job must be done by someone who can do it.
There are always talented people out there who have the skills to do the tough jobs.
This is why I don’t give Bondi and Patel a pass at all.
Trying to run their departments without cleaning house—even to the level of essentially closing down the FBI—is inexcusable.
They are likely both too compromised to do it. They were mistakes.
