Or it could be recognized as its own country.
Or it could be absorbed into Israel.
No good options there. The first one is probably the best. The last one is definitely the worst (for demographic reasons).

A guest on Hugh Hewitt last week speculated that Trump’s “big announcement” might be Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords. That seems more likely to me than Trump recognizing a Palestinian state.
It’s possible the UK trade deal was the big news, but I doubt it. Saudi Arabia signing a peace deal with Israel would indeed be worthy of the build up.

The mythical “Palestinians” have been offered a “Palestinian state” many times over the years, and have always turned it down.
The “Palestinians” don’t want their own “state.”
They want Israel erased from the face of the Earth and all Jews exterminated, and will settle for nothing less.

The source for that Jerusalem Post story is really bad. It is an anonymous Arab diplomat who speculated on the purpose of Trump's trip to the Middle East.
The point of the article was for Arabs to float the idea that the US president is considering Palestinian statehood. Trump is not entertaining that idea. Rubio would rather resign than go through with that.

The only Palestinian State that the rag heads will accept is all of Israel - Gaza was a Palestinian state and look what they did with that one. Israel will no more accept giving up its land than Putin will stop his war.

Maybe he’ll piss off Jordan, by correctly identifying Jordon proper (not the so called “West Bank” which has been known since Roman Empire times as Judea/Samaria, and is in Israel). After all, the Roman Empire named the hated area of thousands of years of Jewish habitation, as ..”Palestine” as propaganda against their constant warfare with the Jewish inhabitants.
