California gas prices could skyrocket 75%

California drivers could soon face gas prices soaring to $8.43 per gallon, a staggering 75% increase from current levels. The looming crisis stems from the shutdown of two major in-state refineries, which together account for 20% of California’s gasoline production.

The Phillips 66 refinery in Los Angeles is set to close by the end of 2025, followed by the Valero refinery in Benicia, which will halt operations in April 2026. These closures will create a gasoline deficit ranging from 6.6 million to 13.1 million gallons per day, according to an analysis by USC Professor Michael Mische. The impact will extend beyond fuel prices, affecting supply chains, air travel, food delivery, agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare.

“California’s famed enviro-racket is run by oil company stockholders, of which Grubbiner Noisome is a scion.”

Absolutely, they are illusionists...

“Do you have something I - and other voters - can say that will convince California voters to repent and change their ways?”

Unfortunately it is going to take an intervention... But one thing to keep in mind, Every election in Ca has been stolen for the last 40 years... Or it might have changed by now.

“Due to the refineries of California supplying fuel to the airlines, trains, ships and most importantly all the military bases, it would be very easy to consider it a National emergency for trade and defense.

Exemption of California emissions and fuel recipes could be done also, but would require long term protection for ANY company to be willing to stay operational....”

Absolutely, from someone else who knows the game well... :)

You bet. Trump is going to de facto seize them from the Communist before leaving office. I’m sure the misfits running California know this.

I have one last trip to make to visit elderly family and then I never have to cross that border again. Such a shame. A beautiful state with lots to do. But basically it is Mexico with rich people enclaves.

“You can get additives to keep it liquid at low temps.”

Yes DIESEL... And even #1 Diesel (Kerosene) gels in extreme temps. Even if you do not shut the vehicle off and have exhaust heaters for the fuel flow it will still gel. That is what I do for a living. I have owned three truck repair shops and ran a major National Trucking company as fleet Maintenance Manager. 600 trucks and 1,200 reefer trailers out of my local yard alone.

My biggest worry during the winter? That the Lettuce we were transporting did not freeze too. I have had to give authorization to let drivers build fires under their fuel tanks to get themselves out of blizzard conditions. And under reefer trailer fuel tanks. And that was with #1 low temp diesel fuel...

We absolutely had lots of problems once they forced biodiesel blend... Huge problems. In fact we lost drivers who froze to death because their systems froze up when they might not have with straight #1. When the engine will not run the heater does not work... They freeze to death in their sleep.

“I have lived in California all my life.”

Why? They over-regulated me out of business and I moved to Az in 2000 with my wife and two teenage daughters and nothing but the shirt on my back and had to live off grid.

Best thing I ever did despite the sacrifices...

California brags about how its the sixth biggest economy in the world. They also love socialist europe. They surely then can handle paying stylish european gasoline prices.

Yeah, there’s a lot of stuff out there, including the GEET engine that can run on waste oil, paint thinner, diesel, crude oil etc, but it’s pretty clunky and involves water, so winter operation would be a provlem...but I’ve seen it work.

The “producer gas” generator is also interesting, it would work well in a pickup or vehicle with a trailer to haul the wood fuel.

Running a diesel car on deep fryer oil looks the easiest. You might want to mix it with a little alcohol or something to thin it.

Since we made it through Biden and the RATs, I’m not too worried about an oil crisis.

Arizona gets something like 80% of its gasoline supply fron Kalifornia and ~20 from Texas. Our gas prices will go up because the stupid people in another state. I don’t call that winning

Most diesel electric locomotives run a diesel engine at around 4 thousand hp. The total hp output after the motors is around 6500 hp..depending on the type of engine.

Or about 1/4 to 1/3rd more than the diesel engine output.

The bigboy locomotive for example, is at just about 6500 hp after a certain speed. Thats on 4 cylinders...or 8 if you must.

At marine diesel engineering school, we were instructed on diesel engines with 4 foot up to 8 foot stroke and about 24 to 36 inch bore..or larger. Running from 80 to 120 RPMs and producing anywheres from 1500 to 3500 HP per cylinder. Those diesels are reversable like a steam engine except, they are single acting. Steam engines were nearly always double acting.
Tge most efficient engine ever made is steam. Up to 90% or more efficient. Only one thing more efficient. Electric although i understand the newer steam turbines are getting pretty efficient these days.

My very good friend you are mistaken. I made a post over there with all the links to all the parameters. A standard GE produces 2k Hp and puts out 10k at the trucks depending on what speed you are going. I have been at this particular project for many years now. And I have built smaller versions and rove them myself personally. The first one was a moped Gasoline over Electric Hybrid that was so fast it could kill you because the tires would not hold up to the speeds... :)

Nope. Wrong.

Up to 4000 hp.

Your switchers are much smaller.

BTW chum. The largest diesel engine ever made is the german swiss engine producing 109,000 hp with 14 cylinders. Its in a container ship.

Most great lakes freighters now run with diesel electric-the same engines in long haul locomotives and the Diesel engines are all rated at around 4000 HP.

The producer gas things used to be on the running boards of the old cars during WWII. Some of the old movies even had them.

#11 The La Brea tar pits in Los Angeles and the oil seeping out of the cliff faces and beach in Santa Barbara are two examples.

There will be a .65 cent per gallon of gas increase soon.
Meanwhile in other states you pay about half of what Calif. drivers do.

Zero sympathy for people that create their own problems and double down on keeping those problems. May California go to Hell in a handbasket.
