Abbott’s statement: “(It is) a significant achievement (by Anthony Albanese) to be the first Prime Minister since John Howard and the first Labor Prime minister since Bob Hawke to be returned to government ………
What I really do want to say though is to reassure people who voted Liberal (in Australia that means conservative because the biggest conservative party is called the Liberal Party) today and people who normally vote for the coalition not to lose heart.
At our best we are the freedom party. We are the tradition party. We are the patriot party and at our best I believe that we can be the natural party of government ………
I hope that the Albanese government succeeds for our country’s sake.
I fear thought that a re-elected government will double down on the things it was doing in its first term and I very much fear that the energy self-harm will continue, that the economic stagnation will accelerate, that the social division will get worse and that the strategic peril will continue to be neglected.
What that means is, if the coalition can create a clear contest and a strong contrast over the next term, we can certainly be competitive and give Australia the best possible government.

Watch this guy run wild
Will he be gracious when he is arrested for badthought?
“Will he be gracious when he is arrested for badthought?”
that happens to little guys like me (I have been arrested for talking honestly at a church and lobbying A Labpor politician for WW2 memorial tree plantings) but a fpormer Prime minister is probably safe
But in Australia’s 2022 federal election a United Australia Party (very Trump and Tucker Carlson friendly) candidate whom I interviewed was arrested by police, imprisoned and has not resurfaced publicly to my knowledge since then.
Ingram Spencer. A Calvinist libertarian. A straight talker and provocative but very non violent in my dealings with him. He said things that might have frightened two of his woke opponents. They didn’t debate what he said but sooled police onto him.
“Watch this guy run wild”
As a former Prime Minister he probably wont get too over the top ......... the wildness here in Oz comes from the likes of Barnaby Joyce, Clive Palmer, David Limbrik and Bob Katter.
They have some of Donald Trump’s qualities.
but not the clout.
