A 10-year-old California girl is set to graduate from college this spring. “I just enjoy learning,” she said. “There’s so many interesting things out there.”
Alisa Perales, who learned how to read at 2 years old and began doing algebra at the age of five, started taking classes at Crafton Hills College — a community college in Yucaipa, California — when she was just 8 years old, according to a report by ABC7 WWSB.
“It’s very fun to me,” Perales told the outlet. “It’s almost as fun as playing outside or riding a bike or doing whatever. I just enjoy learning. There’s so many interesting things out there.”
The 10-year-old, from San Bernardino, is now one month away from graduating from the two-year college and is currently waiting to see if she has been accepted to Stanford University.
Upon graduating from Crafton Hills College in May, Perales, who will have just turned 11 years old by the time of the ceremony, will earn two associate degrees — one in multiple sciences and the other in mathematics — with a final GPA that will be “close” to a perfect 4.0, according to a report by Inland Empire Community News (IECN).
Moreover, Perales could have earned an additional two degrees — in computer science and physics — if she would have stayed at the community college for just one more semester, the outlet noted.
“I credit my dad for pushing me to do well in school and try my best to work hard,” Perales told IECN.
The outlet reported that the 10-year-old’s father, Rafael Perales, has guided his daughter on expanding her knowledge since her first birthday, when she moved beyond basic ABCs and 123s.

thats racist!! Its Hispanic privilege!!
jk... hopefully she’ll use her gift to better mankind the right way...
I’m honestly jealous of kids whose father’s did everything they could to make kids scholars, and possibly being scholars themselves.
Big deal. It ain’t like she can catch a football, or throw a baseball, or run fast. Stuff that’s REALLY important nowadays. /s
I get mad at myself for not taking the opportunity... hence the rough road i’ve traveled!!
Maybe we’ll do better in our next life!!
A great achievement. I hope she keeps her cool through adolescence and doesn’t throw it all away.
A real life Sheldon Cooper. Cool.
Good for her and it being a California community college, her fellow students are right at her maturity level. Win-win!
I do believe that, in the next life, it is a fresh start.
She can’t speak proper English, so how did she get through 2 years of college ( a dinky one,but still a “ college “ ) at the age of 10? And she has applied to Stanford?
Avoid the “education” Pharisee establishment.
I wonder if her accomplishment is a comment on the school or her...or both.
She certainly looks a lot OLDER than age 10 in the pictures. I wonder if she had any proof of age when she entered here?

She is a very impressive young lady, a true prodigy. I notice that she was homeschooled for many years. She seems to be happy and well-rounded. She will make a positive contribution, unless she is radicalized.
I took a college course, “Radical, Political Economics.” It included historical and current writings on socialism, and lectures by a true believer (who also had the power to grade me). I had to decide whether or not to go down that path.
Studying for the final, I went through the lecture notes for the entire course. In the notes for the first third of the semester, I read that America “did not really have a progressive tax system.” Subtext, America is bad.
In the notes to the final third of the semester I read that, due to America’s progressive tax system, it was hard for a striver to join the ranks of the very rich. Subtext, America is bad.
America was bad for not having a progressive tax system and America was bad for having a progressive tax system. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. That’s not logical or fair. This realization helped open my mind to reject academic authority from the left.
Leftist theory does not stand up to scrutiny.
The problem is that leftism is more emotional than intellectual. As someone said, you can’t reason someone out of a position that they were not reasoned into in the first place.
“Women’s rights,” “saving the environment,” “anti-racism,” “anti-capitalism,” “anti-fascism,” etc. create righteous indication. People become addicted to their hate. It’s hard to think when feeling a strong emotion. People become committed to a phony cause, which they are unwilling to examine critically.
Niece did not want to do high school so she placed-out first two and attended the last two year.
Small college, she she placed-out her pre- requisites and attended the last two years for a teaching degree.
“She can’t speak proper English”
I missed that. Maybe I can’t speak proper English either. Please provide a quote.
