Students learn what you teach them.
I’m a retired high school teacher. And I could write an entire book about outrageous conduct by students where no one is really punished.
Attack a fellow student… nothing happens.
Attack a staff member… nothing happens.
Make terroristic threats… nothing happens.
So the lesson is clear: Do what you want, kids. There will be no consequences.

And many of the students/children so indulged are now in positions of great power... with predictable results. The proper raising of children, including immediate and memorable punishment for unacceptable behavior, is essential to a stable, advanced civilization.
