A marketing professor discovered that if you put X amount of money into marketing you could get Y amount of money in profit. To prove this, he decided to sell rocks. Remember the Pet Rock? I think politics is the same as selling rocks. Imagine a soccer mom who runs for a local office but someone with ambitions for political power backs a dumb-as-a-rock candidate with X dollars. The qualified but underfunded soccer mom loses. Then the power broker backs his Dumb-as-a-rock candidate to higher and higher office. That’s how we get politicians like her.
