Elon Musk @elonmusk:

Since legacy media propaganda is considered a “valid” source by Wikipedia, it naturally simply becomes an extension of legacy media propaganda.

I’m willing to depend on wikipedia to give me a link to Heathrow Airport’s official website...but when it comes to a subject that’s even remotely political I see what they print as being total cr@p!

That’s how I feel about Wikipedia. It is helpful for things like you mention but otherwise they are pure leftist propaganda.

Bad sign when the passive voice (”was compared”) is used. If the article does not state WHO is doing the comparing, it does not really belong in the article.

Wikipedia has just gotten worse, now many non political articles are corrupted as well. They are mostly useless now even for science / history articles.

Everything that can have a woke narrative weaved in does on Wikipedia articles

"...but when it comes to a subject that’s even remotely political I see what they print as being total cr@p!"

The problem is, the left is, and always has been, hell-bent on politicizing everything.

You are correct. You said it better than I did.

I like Wikipedia as a quick reference but you’re right. You have to take it all with a grain of garlic.

You have to take everything with a grain of salt. It’s why I’ve been saying it for years, the purpose of education should be to develop a good “BS Meter”.

I use Wikipedia quite a bit. They have a LOT of information available on almost anything. But i never use them for any political info.

The best thing about Wikipedia are the list of references at the end.

I think Chat GPT et. al. will render Wikipedia obsolete fairly soon.

Of course, there will be bias there, as well.

Wikipedia is a world treasure on finding information of an obscure snail or the study of military conflicts between Finland and Russia in the 1800’s. Anything that the left does not deem worth corrupting. I have been banned for life trying to fight the corruption.

It’s because they depend on volunteers to moderate, and in the end only people who are single, unemployed and politically obsessed stick around, everyone else who have a job and a family can’t be spending all their time there.

And I don’t have to paint a picture for you to figure out the leanings of people who fit that profile.

Yeah, remember the great video of the journalist interviewing Pierre Poilievre of Canada.

“Some would say you...”

“Who says that?”

“I don’t know, many people”

“Can you name one?”

Wikipedia is useless for politics and religion.

History can get dodgy too.
