The excuse is to create compost for the newer living plants.
Another is “nesting” cover for species.
And now all the brush is gone.
Any modern day prophet who would have given warning, citing facts and probabilities, would suffer deaf ears and ridicule. Not even if his words were heard and believed would there have been a response sufficient to mitigate great loss.
This is a convergence of natural and man-made consequence that might have been reduced, but could not have been avoided entirely.
It’s time to make lemonade. America can make California great again.
Sure. Me too. Just don't ask for the rest of the country to bail you out due to your asinine policies.
You would get absolute BS from them.
Federal EPA did some good things, but the organization is no longer needed, it is just a hammer looking for a “proud” nail to hit.
States have it covered pretty good now.
> I would be curious to hear a more detailed explanation from California environmentalists… <
I can help with that. Those folks will tell you that the fires are due to both Climate Change and evil utility companies.
It’s mostly Climate Change. But you’ve got to add the utility companies because they can be sued for lots of money.
There’s a reason why Mental is in the word Environmentalists
The laws of nature dictate that if man doesn’t clean up the forest, nature will.
At the most basic level, it is a rejection by the Left of authority given to humans to "dress and keep".
Now they get to begin all over again. Everyone could use a fresh start.
This is how gov’t “manages” our public lands. They want to ‘leave it to nature’ & not interfere with it. The result is bug-infested dying trees in our forests & underbrush ready to turn into a conflagration if there’s a lightning strike...or an arsonist running around.
There are hosts of insects, mice, and other small critters that live in such dry brush. They need homes too!
Heavy rains triggering mudslides, followed by a 7.4 earthquake should do the trick.
I respect California voters right to vote for whatever inane policies they wish, as long as they respect my right not to pay for them.
all these groups are likely NGO assets
Now they can build their 15 minute cites, or more likely concentration camps!
“I respect the right of California voters to adopt policies that I disagree with.”
Hopefully, the Trump EPA doesn’t.
LOL. This is a crisis. Let’s see if it is used to make fire remediation more effective or, on on the other hand, is used to increase the power and money of the state.
I bet they will pretend the former and implement the later.
