It’ll be worse when California demands that all fire trucks be EV’s.

Years ago, when they first came out, the communist-dominated Council of the City of Sebastopol (Sonoma County, CA) insisted the Fire Chief ditch his Ford Explorer and instead drive a Prius. He patiently explained why such a vehicle would be inappropriate, given the demands placed on emergency vehicles. The Council wouldn’t budge. The local Toyota dealer then actually wrote the communists a letter in which he detailed WHY a Prius was NOT a good choice. Made no difference. They knew better, and had a point to make, so a Prius it was. Chief quit. Incredible but true story. And here we have that insanity on full display again, with the guy in charge afraid to say, when someone pointed out that the regulations and/or policy would require DOT approval, “Yeah, thanks, but we’re not going be doing that.”

Our local newspaper had a story about how one of our brand new county busses caught fire and burned. They almost broke their arm patting the county on the back for being wise enough to put the charging station a large distance from any of the regular busses.

Of course they never thought to point out that the reaL smart move would have been to avoid electric busses completely...
