No he didn’t. Being a traitor or a fraud is not the same as ideological heresy. The later is a difference of opinion. The former are warmongers spouting conservative talking points while doing not a single conservative thing in their lives, you know, like Lyin’ Ryan and Bloodshot Boehner. There is all the difference in the world between reasonable compromise and sell-out.

The problem with Roadrunner’s point is that invariably “conservative” phonies such as the Bushes have turned their guns on old Right, paleocon, and cultural conservatives.

They spend more time attacking the populist Right than they spend fighting liberals and the Left. This goes all the way back to Jack Kemp scowling in disgust at Pat Buchanan’s Culture War speech to the 1992 GOP convention. They don’t attack liberals because on most issues they agree with liberals.

Conservatism, Inc. as some have called it isn’t interested in supporting you. It’s interested getting conservatives to support them.
