Matt Gaetz Threatens to Rejoin Congress, Reveal Lawmakers’ #MeToo Settlements After Ethics Committee Votes to Release Lawfare Report

Former Congressman Matt Gaetz threatened to rejoin Congress, expose lawmakers’ “Me Too” settlements paid out using taxpayer funds – and then resign from Congress.

Matt Gaetz floated the idea after the House Ethics Committee secretly voted to release a ‘damaging’ lawfare report on him.

Gaetz resigned from Congress last month after President Trump nominated him as US Attorney General.

The House Ethics Committee was going to release a “damaging” report on Matt Gaetz last month, but because he resigned from Congress, the committee lost jurisdiction.

Matt Gaetz threatened to air out his colleagues’ dirty laundry and expose every #MeToo settlement paid using public funds after the House Ethics Panel reversed course and voted to release the lawfare report.

Gaetz resigned from the 118th Congress but he was elected to the 119th Congress so he said he could get sworn in, do some damage and then resign:

Someone suggested the following plan to me:

1. Show up 1/3/2025 to congress

2. Participate in Speaker election (I was elected to the 119th Congress, after all…)

3. Take the oath

4. File a privileged motion to expose every “me too” settlement paid using public funds (even of former members)

5. Resign and start my @OANN program at 9pm EST on January 6, 2025.

I don’t see this as blackmail. I see this as the dems taking the bait and exposing that they have no problem with walking over another’s “privacy” so they have no grounds to complain when it happens to them.

This was a fantastic set-up. I hope it all gets exposed. And not only the sexual harassment stuff but also the intel community’s sex tapes and extortion. It all needs to be exposed if we’re ever to have any semblance of honest governance. And this set-up is picture perfect.

Gates was at his best guesting on Bannon’s Warroom while Gates was still in the thunderdome.

Now?

Will he outperform the non-performing Trey?

Totally Minor League.

Would be funny if he gets sworn in then filled a motion to vacate Speaker Mike Johnson.

I don’t know the wordings of his resignation letter, but if he only resigned from the current term then he can get back to the next term since he was elected for that term as well.

A related but different situation is Democrat Adam Schiff that was elected to Senate twice in November: one to fill the current term and the other for the term starting in January.

Might I suggest:

4) a) File a privileged motion to release all records of all House Ethics Committee investigations of all members (throughout the entire history of the House) who resigned to successfully thwart release of said records. Post to the internet, unredacted.

The flaw in that thinking is that members of the Ethics Committee may not be in the mix. His blackmail is aimed at a whole bunch of people, not just those members.

We know all of the Democrats are on the sexual harassers payoff list. None of those creeps could get any woman that wasn’t a blind prostitute to sleep with them ! Heidi Fleiss named Chuckie Schumer as one of her best clientsl ! I’m sure a few Republicans are on the list. But every Democrat from Teddy Kennedy, and Chris Dodd, to Joe Biden and John Kerry are on it. I’m sure Adam Schiff and Eric Swallwell are listed too. Swallwell was even sleeping with Fang Fang the Chinese me love you long time Spy !
Matt Gaetz please come back to Congress long enough to expose them all, they threw the first punch, Hit them back with an Open Records Nuke ! When the dust all settles resign and take a position as Deputy Attorney General and let the real investigations begin !

I was thinking he should do this. He won the seat. The committee and Johnson really did a number on him. Maybe he wants to come back fighting.

It’s his. He won the seat. He gave it up and DeSantis was going to choose a replacement but has not yet done so. Matt can change his mind and take the seat.

Governors can appoint Senators. An open Representative seat requires a special election.
and that would be in April 2025.
Gaetz could mess that up by taking his seat in January

Yes, you are correct and that us what I meant—that DeSantis needed to hold a Special election. It’s late—my brain is a little slow....

Doesn’t add up to blackmail in my view.
Congress is weaponizing material that was dismissed after investigation by DOJ. They made a report without allowing Gaetz to give evidence or respond. Gaetz is completely within his rights to strike back at members of a body who has distorted the ethics process to destroy him.
I admire him for thinking outside of the box and exposing corruption.
As far as why not expose sooner it is a big step and risks chaos. At some point the corruption, cynicism and personal targeting is too great to ignore. Gaetz will certainly get blowback from his erstwhile colleagues but this is the “expose corruption” season so the timing is right.

Why exactly is it blackmail? I see it as turn about is fair play. Gaetz accusers were not found credible by DOJ and the congress critters whose settlements were paid are not as clean or $ wouldn’t have been paid.

I don’t care if they post their report. If anything, it will show that they are kangaroos, taking the word of a guy who is already doing time for framing another guy in the exact same way, admitted to investigators that he was lying to “get Gaetz”, and who offered to “get Gaetz” if prosecutors would reduce his sentence, which they did. Whatever they show is going to slam the whole system, not Gaetz.

And I think the whole thing is a trap, which these Deep State crooks fell right into.

I don’t think Gaetz is trying to get them to change their mind about releasing these records - which is why I don’t view this as blackmail. I think he is springing the trap that they walked right into, and I think Gaetz has justification now to do what he’s wanted to do for a long time: expose the crooks in Congress and the Deep State.

I hope he goes for it.

I’ve thought that the OAN show was anti-climactic and that there was something bigger on his plate. I really do think this is a set-up to allow him to do this, and I think the prospect was just too juicy for the House Ethics Committee to bypass. They swallowed it hook, line, and sinker, and now Gaetz has everything he needs, to finally expose all this crap, which has needed to be done for a very, very long time.

These jerks who are playing lawfare gave Gaetz all the justification he needed, because they defied due process to try to libel somebody they knew was innocent - throwing the whole “privacy” and “decorum” smokescreens out the window, which were the only reasons anybody could give for hiding the hush money our tax dollars have been paying.

And just for the fun of it, I’d like Gaetz to ask Trump’s DOJ to file charges against the government for not calling the hush fund monies “campaign contributions” on their tax returns - one count for every time the money was mis-labeled by either the government or by the politicians who were being protected by the hush money.

Do it, Gaetz! Someone explain to me why the Conressperv Defense Fund user names are secret. We The People pay these scumbags’ salaries and have a right to know exactly what they’re doing with our money.

Coming down hard on our own side with a one seat majority is self destructive.

However,It's very doable as long as we have gone after every crooked dem who ever graced the halls of govt. beginning with bill, hillary and obama. We have to destroy all the bad dems first before we go after our side. That's just good common sense.

By the time we do that we should have far more than a one seat majority. Then we can go after our own.

The better plan is to go after the dirty dems first and then start self destructing.
