This is pretty funny. A German town dealt with the carbon emissions crisis by getting rid of their diesel powered car ferry (that worked very well) by replacing it with a solar powered one (that doesn't work at all).

Now cars that can't cross at the ferry have to drive and additional 20 miles out of the way to get to the nearest bridge...

...the city father sold the diesel ferry for 17K Euros, and are now trying to buy it back.

That reminds me of a pet peev of mine but on a smaller basis... Cities round here In CA keep tearing out the middle suicide lane on our roads and add medians with landscaping and crap. So you have to drive an extra block or two to do a u turn to get to somewhere on the other side of the street. It adds up extra driving and congestion. Then the fools have to water it and maintain it adding extra costs. When we are in a drought they let it die and it just collects litter. Hate it!
