BREAKING News: Trump has sent word to the Senate Majority Leader Thune that if the Senate doesn't confirm AG Gaetz, he will appoint him using the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998, which allows for temporary appointments for up to 210 days, with a possible 210-day extension. This individual would not require Senate confirmation.

How long does a new Attorney General need to fire employees at the Justice Department and hire replacements? I believe it is less than 1 year. Trump doesn’t need Matt Gaetz there for 4 years and I suspect Trump is looking for a recess appointment for Gaetz.

This is new to me—to let us drill into the details together:

It sounds like President Trump can do it.

If he extends beyond the time limit GAO will generate a really mean letter.

Lol.

Trump can recess the Congress and not a thing the Congress can do about it.

It sounds like in January President Trump can hire the nominee as a GS-15 (not requiring senate confirmation) to start the ninety day clock.

If he is not confirmed in April he becomes AG for 210 days.

Easy peasy.

I’d like to see Trump adjourn Congress on his first day, appoint everyone and get the government rolling. Never tire of seeing the exploding heads of those who get in his way.

Fed rules are too complicated for me. Wouldn't he have to be hired as a GS-15 in some other capacity not as AG.

Trump has a two year window of opportunity, after which the country will be locked into the next presidential cycle. The last thing he needs is a purge/civil war in the party, especially given the margins in the House and Senate. He needs to pick his fights carefully, and he needs to be fighting Democrats, not Republicans whose votes he cannot afford to lose. I don’t know if Trump’s ego will allow this.

Correct—In January he is hired as the GS-15 Assistant to the Assistant to the Deputy Assistant of the Assistant Deputy.

If everybody above him obeys his requests in January that is not his fault.

Lol.

But it’s those “Republicans” who will stop at nothing to stop his agenda. They must be dealt with first.

He can once some conditions are met.

I think you may underestimate how much Congress will not allow their power to be diminished. Johnson is the key and he holds the power in this equation, but is also most at risk.

FIRST make them the TRAITORS go on the record voting Gaetz down.

This would be an invitation to be primaried.

Then put Gaetz in place by ANY MEANS NECESSARY.

I’d say you can do a lot of flushing in 420 days.

A caveat.

The TRAITORS might want to think twice.

Gaetz would have ACCESS to whatever dirt my be in their closet.

Miss Lindsay seemed to grasp that when he came out for Gaetz.
