You are a long time Freeper. Would have expected better.
Of course as the first TRILLIONAIRE Musk does not need money. I suspect it's a gate keeping function. One I don't agree with (lots of smart people out there who don't have an account with X) but kinda makes sense.

What’s the catch?
The requirement to be an X subscriber is likely, as others have said, to defend against bots. The subscription fee is nominal for an individual, but becomes very expensive for bad actors trying to flood the DOGE account with thousands or millions of spam messages. This is just a smart move.

I didn’t think your concern was unreasonable. We certainly live in a world where it seems everyone is angling to enrich themselves somehow, especially in the government, so you can’t be too careful. Sorry that you got jumped on. We’ve all gotten a little too quick to do that on here recently. Maybe we got so used to being cheated out of victory since 2020 that we just got a little cynical and short-tempered, and haven’t yet gotten used to the fact we now hold all the cards.

Maybe we need to identify a FReeper who has a premium account on X & provide him/her with suggestions to send to the DOGE account.
I’d start with: return all federally held lands that don’t meet constitutional specifics back to the states & close all the agencies that manage those lands.
Authenticating yourself with an $8 payment via credit card keeps the bots out.
If $8 is to much for you, you’re not at the level they’re looking for.
