You want some hard truths about the democrat party? Well, allow me to give you some. I am a historian, and I have the paperwork to prove it and I have been involved with politics since I worked on Reagan's first campaign. I know the democrat party's history- pretty interesting stuff when you get into it. The democrat party has ALWAYS been the party of the wealthy elite- the plantation owners with their feudalistic, two tier caste system and slavery. They were willing to kill 300k o their own citizens and 340k of OURS to hold on to it with the Civil War, and one of their politicians even tried to beat a republican senator, Chas. Sumner, to death on the Senate floor.

Well so much for your credibility as a "historian." You just regurgitated the same ridiculous propaganda that the mainstream has spewed since the civil war.

Firstly, Charles Sumner *DESERVED* that beating. He was a very nasty man that said unforgiveable things about an elder senator, and it was his nephew, Preston Brooks who beat the sh*t out of Sumner.

I read Sumner's speech. *I* would have beaten the sh*t out of him too, if he had said such things about one of my relatives.

Sumner's own friends tried to stop him during his speech, telling him "Stop! They will kill you!"

Sumner was a nasty piece of work that deserved his beating.

Secondly, the *WEALTHY* were the Northeastern power brokers. Same then as it is today. The industrial titans of the Northeast were the wealthy, and they had the game rigged so that the North received 60% of all the revenue from slavery. They were making more money from slavery than the actual slave owners were!

Notice also that they didn't go to war over the Plantation owners having slavery. Indeed, they passed the Corwin amendment through the House and Senate by a 2/3rds majority to make sure the plantation owners could always have slaves. What they went to war over was those slave owners were *LEAVING* and taking their 60% of that money with them.

The power elite of the North were just fine with eternal slavery, but what they absolutely would not tolerate is cutting off their money supply and overthrowing their control of the Southern states.

And this idiot "Historian" is seemingly unaware of the reality of what happened.
