Phone interview of a young family man living in a holler where most residents are related and mostly older. Details Fri morning when the flooding and mudslides started. Tried to escape by vehicle but the paved road in both directions was impassable. Went back to the holler town and made it to the church which was on high ground. Went back out with another young man and rescued an older guy trapped under trees and dead bodies of his neighbors/relatives. The older man who was injured was taken to the hospital eventually. A week later, the holler town has had no one come to fix/improve things or even bring supplies. Same situation in hundreds of holler & towns. Every valley basically. Saturated mountains/hills had 40” of rain dumped on them in a few hours.

Click on a place near you, and call to see if it is open and has food. Keep clicking and calling as necessary. Bring empty water containers.
Tomorrow is Sunday. Churches might let you get water if they have it.
Something very, very evil is occurring, remember the Hawaii fire awhile back? Same story, and that town is still off limits.
This should be a full military rescue operation with CH-47’s flying in water, food, medical supplies and hygiene products to stricken areas of NC, SC, Tenn and Georgia.
