Rifle and Ranges Found at Second Assassination Attempt on Trump

On September 15, 2024, a second assassination attempt was foiled by Secret Service agents when at least one fired at a person who was poking a rifle muzzle through the perimeter fence at Trump’s West Palm Beach, Florida, golf club. The attempt was stopped at about 2 p.m. From the nypost.com:

It is the second time a madman armed with an assault rifle has tried to kill the 45th president in two months.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said the suspect took cover near a chain-link fence between 300 and 500 yards from Trump as he teed off at the fifth hole around 2 p.m. — noting that “with a rifle and scope, like, that is not a long distance.”

An investigative picture has been released showing the rifle and what appear to be armor plate carriers on the chain-link fence, along with what is said to be a go-pro camera. The rifle is said to have had its serial number obliterated. The area is claimed to have been used by photographers to obtain pictures of former President Trump. This may be one way the would-be assassin determined a security breach existed. If a picture can be obtained, the subject is in range of a rifle with a telescopic sight. Various sources have claimed former president Trump was between 300 and 500 yards away. The New York Post has published a diagram that shows the fifth hole, where Candidate Trump has been said to be. The would-be assassin is said to have occupied his position for 12 hours. It is unknown if this is the first or 20th time he has been there.

The rifle appears to be an SKS with a telescopic sight attached. It is either a variant that took AK47 magazines or has

Satire, but accurate.
The press probably was there to “record the historic moment”.

500 yards with 7.62-39 in an SKS model, even with a great scope would be a tough shot, IMHO. This is like one of the worst combinations of round choice, distance, and platform, for that type of shot. 7.62x39 is subsonic at 500 yards, it would be a very bad choice for long range shooting (greater than 400 yards).

I find it fascinating that both of the Trump attempted shooters used platforms that I would never have chosen for distance accuracy. Essentially an M4 version of AR, without bull barrel or standard length, and in the second case a round that isn’t even that accurate on a military rifle. The first shooter would have been better off changing the upper to 20 inch 1-7 twist barrel. The second shooter would have been more accurate with an ancient Mosin Nagant and 7.62 x 54r, if he wanted cheap and Russian. Both would have been better off with a Hunting Rifle in 30-06 with a penetrator (for body armor).

It’s like they were more interested in making a ‘assault weapon’ statement than a shot.

Routh is the worst kind of idiot. He's a delusional idiot who thinks he's important. I despise people like him. I hope he runs out of Vaseline in prison. He deserves the raw treatment for the wrest of his life.

“”””He “said” he only makes $30k a year. He is a lifelong scammer. Who knows how much cash he has stashed in various places.””””

The guy had lived a lifetime in a cash is king world of construction, roofing, handyman, odd jobs, along with drug dealing arrests, and heavy dealing in stolen goods (and arrests) and he owned a lot of houses, his claiming 30k annual was probably his go to statement that he adjusted for inflation every decade or so for the world of taxes and getting public defenders and setting bail amounts.

“”””PLUS, he offered $150,000.00 for someone to assassinate Trump!!!””””

Routh lived in a fantasy where he was offering governments like Taiwan and Ukraine his 50,000 Afghan mercenaries, he was trying to contact world leaders in Hong Kong and Belarus to solve their problems, the $150,000 meant nothing in reality but he had just sold one of his houses for about $178,000 so that figure may have been in his head.

I’m busy now and it might take time to find the dollar figure again but here is the house sell.

“2024
At some point between 2022 and 2024, Routh returned to Greensboro. A real estate agent who worked with Routh says he sold the home on Hiatt Street earlier this year. He was in Greensboro and voted in person in March, casting his vote in the Democratic primary, which unaffiliated North Carolina voters are allowed to do.

Also this about owning properties.
“Routh owned many properties through Guilford County. WFMY News 2’s Amber Lake drove to several of those properties and many appear abandoned. Neighbors at those properties said they haven’t seen anyone come by in years.”

I’m not sure that he needs much money, I’ve never seen his trips tallied and since he spends huge amounts of time online and probably gets the cheapest flights possible, he also physically looks like he lives the life of a ascetic instead of dining well and often, and since he talks online to so may potential nutty believers in his various causes and scams he may have couches and spare bedrooms lined up when he goes somewhere overseas.

As far as the consumption that we are aware of, some overseas flights, would those have necessarily cost a whole lot?

He also dabbles in fund raising and probably isn’t above accepting funds from gullible internet suckers.
