Neurosis and the Curley EffectThe politics of mental health, and the mental health of politics

The upshot is that about one-third of Democratic voters are single women, which helps explain, as the Washington Examiner’s Conn Carroll points out, the 2012 Obama “Life of Julia” cartoons, which showed government helping unattached women through life.

In general, women are more risk-averse than men, and thus more supportive of welfare state measures and more reluctant to support military action. They are also, as we have seen on female-dominated campuses, more willing to suppress speech that is seen as irritating or hurtful. “Highly educated women,” as Australian educator Lorenzo Warby writes, “are proving all too willing to trash other people’s freedoms to protect their emotions.”

JD Vance was not wrong. Democrats have to appease the cat lady block. These women are not benign spinsters. They are dangerously mentally ill fanatics.

If you only very casually know them, they seem timid, dainty, or frumpy, and seem so soft-handed and even endearing. Get to know them better, open some doors to get a peak in, and you will find that these people are some of the most disaffected and bitter malcontents you can meet. They are in various stages or degrees of functional depressives who harbor little hope for the world or their place in it, but overcompensate for it by wielding a pseudo-intellectual arrogance, from which they would tear us all asunder in some great act of justice... if only the world was fair and right.

"In general, women are more risk-averse than men..."

Then why do so many single women get pregnant?

It strikes me that Tim Walz is the sort of man that these people are going to be comfortable around.

Because there is no risk; abortion cures everything.

Lust? Stupidity?

Gaming the welfare system, I suspect.

Funny story. A month or so ago I was out walking the dog, a bit farther and a different direction than I usually do. Rounded a corner and walked right past a house. Black guy was outside, woman inside. They were having a big old shouting match, about her continuing to engage in recreational sex with her baby daddy, who apparently wasn't this guy. (We don't live in whitebread suburbia.)

A half century of the Great Society, yay.

I recently had a woman in her early 60’s come to me for help with her extreme anger problems.

We did a little work and it was easy to determine that her anger began with her father when she was in her mother’s womb. Her mother was angry with her father and a child in the womb cannot differentiate between their own experiences and their mother’s experiences.

She grew up hating her father.

The number one attraction in relationships is that you are attracted toward individuals whose personality is similar to someone with whom you have unresolved conflict. It’s the souls way of providing an opportunity to heal wounds.

Unfortunately, the resolution opportunity became a reinforcement opportunity and she divorced her husband with even more intense anger.

As is often the case, she remarried a man who was an absolutely feminine wimp, the exact opposite of her father and husband as he was safe and didn’t rouse her anger.

Now her anger surfaced again. She is a liberal Democrat and HATES TRUMP with a passion. I could see her rage forming when she talked about Trump.

That’s why she was experiencing all the intense anger. It was her projection of her unresolved anger with her father onto Trump. She was very emotional and irrational about him.

I think this is true for a lot of single women. They have anger at ex’s and project it on Trump.

Interesting.

(hiding behind interwebz pseudonym here). Dearest Wifey has unresolved father issues. I've always thought I inherited a lot of that, even though I'm not like him. (The schizophrenia doesn't help either.)

If you read to the end of the article, Curley was a Boston mayor who drove out constituencies who would vote against him thus increasing his majority. Hence the Curley effect. Recall that Cuomo and Hochul both said that conservatives don’t belong in New York. A good example of the Curley effect.

Back in the day, I used watch the Stooges shorts on the Officer Joe Bolton show on channel 11 (NYC) after school.
