Former President Donald Trump’s Sunday golf outing at his Trump International Golf Club was a last-minute decision, sources told CNN.
This unscheduled appearance has ignited speculation and questions regarding a security incident that occurred at the club earlier that day.
Sources revealed that the golf outing was not on Trump’s public schedule, raising concerns about how an individual was seemingly able to time an incident during Trump’s presence at the club.

"Another legendary kill was that of an NVA general. It was a very dangerous mission but Hathcock volunteered. He spent four days, with little food and no sleep, crawling towards the general's position.
After two days, the general was finally within range. He shot the NVA general right through the heart from about 700 yards. He shot the general, but his mission wasn't yet completed so he crawled back just like he came."
according to another thread he was there for over 12 hours.
You’ve pretty much said all that I was ready to post. Two things are clear: The USSS’s dismal and nearly lethal performance in Butler, and; The USSS always knows the President’s schedule.
So unless the FBI has again infiltrated Trump’s campaign, as they did in 2016, that leaves the spotlight on a very small gaggle of involved individuals familiar with his day-to-day events.
Additional info: Usually the USSS does a very wide ranging, comprehensive sweep in advance of the President’s arrival (even to the extent of removing mail deposit boxes), yet it’s reported that the killer had camped out at the hole for 12 hours. It may be time for Trump to turn to private security, over which he at least has some control.

“I was hoping to get lucky with Morgan Fairchild in the 80’s...”
Sorry, Clark got there first!
Uhh, that’s Christie Brinkley.
Christie Brinkly ??
Can’t put anything past you sharp-eyed eagles, can I?
It was Christie Brinkley in “Vacation.” My goof.
As for why they seem to be incompetent assassins, I posted this on another thread:
Given his choice of an AK47 he was no clearly no Gunny Hathcock, who didn’t use those ugly looking combat rifles Walz wants to ban.
It it was last minute, then someone who is a mole (SS/FBI) had to tip off the shooter
Sometimes the obvious is the obvious answer: I doubt Trump includes golf on his publicly released schedule unless it is a charitable event or campaign related. All Routh had figure out is when Trump would likely be at Mar-A-Lago, which is easy to do based upon Trump’s publicly released schedule. Trump loves to play golf — that is public knowledge — and if he is staying at Mar-A-Lago, there is a really good chance that he will play a round of golf at his golf course.
Routh, apparently waited in his “snipper’s nest for 12 hours. I don’t think Routh was tipped off. He simply made an educated guess that Trump would play golf on Sunday, and he guessed correctly.
Could also be a distraction ... focus attention elsewhere ... maybe the debate whistleblower "thing"? ... perhaps a set-up for something far more serious in the works ...
Yup, occasionally said to use a Remington 700 308, and of course the scoped M2 .50 which he got his longest kill with.
“They fired shots at a guy and didn’t hit him?
How is that possible?
The USSS had a sniper team with eyes on the suspect and they didn’t take him out?
How is that possible?”
I read that in addition to a camera, he had two backpacks containing ceramic plates tied to the fence, and that certain types of ceramic are used to to make bullet proof materials. If true, then perhaps the SS didn’t miss him, but otherwise deadly shots were stopped by the ceramic shields.
I have not read anything about an SS sniper team locked in on the suspect. My understating is that SS agent who was clearing the hole ahead of Trump, saw the shooter and opened fire with his service side-arm, which was probably a Glock 19 9mm (https://backfire.tv/secret-service-handguns-the-exact-models-they-use/)
I apologize.
There will be a third attempt (fourth) in the second week of October.
I pray that prediction is wrong.

“This smells like a DS operation. But why do they keep selecting such lousy shots? You’d think with all their resources, they would recruit a disgruntled ex special forces sniper.”
I’m wondering if the reason is that they have set up a LOT of such people, and we only hear about the ones that got close to Trump.
Yes, the old “Quantity has a quality all its own” doctrine.
